Thread regarding PNC layoffs

@p0 To add context to why I asked my manager is using the FAQ to justify flexibility around after-hours work, prod support, change windows, and validations. But if HR flags your badge count, what’s the answer? You’re putting in a full in-office week plus after-hours with no comp time and no formal exception. That’s not sustainable, and apparently it’s not policy either.

@m4 Agree. But (at least at my office) we swipe in but not out. So we still have coffee badgers and others abusing the system. The “officers vs enlisted” gap is gonna be nasty.

@hn No, FAQ is not a policy, and as a manager I think that answer is awful. I don’t have a shred of guidance from MY manager on what “work it out” means. They don’t know either. This is some Lord of the Flies level cr-p.

@hk my 2 cents. Just don’t go into the office. People can’t afford the commute. And the silence from execs (the execs who haven’t abruptly left) is unprofessional. They’ve tainted their reputation. They can’t hire people as easily. Who will train the ones who may get hired. And customers are leaving too. Leave it to one sh---y policy to fu-k up a 160 year old company. Now we get to watch the circus unfold over the next few months.

@hn an FAQ is not an official Policy. They've removed the information on flexible work arrangements from Pathfinder as well. My take, they are leaving it ambiguous for a reason. More layoffs are coming, and im betting badge swipes will be one of the core decision factors.

My manager keeps pointing me to the FAQ that says managers have flexibility to work it out with their teams. Genuine question: is an FAQ official HR policy? Because that feels like a very thin reed to hang ‘flexibility’ on when enforcement conversations start happening

Yep. Indefensible that a policy announced 100 days ago and the catalyst for truly good talent leaving has had ZERO guidance. Echo chamber silence and the varying definitions of “flexibility” has gone outer limits. Is it just cruel coincidence that May is mental health month? It’s prominently announced on the homepage and yet not a single email, blog, or news item for teammates (manager or not) on how to deal with the mass of people who don’t fit in the box or what discipline if any is in store for those who willfully disregard.

D-mbfounding.

Dead silence since January for me, save for an automated email about my seat assignment a few weeks ago. Insane that there have been literally zero updates. I'm in a market with a sizeable footprint but will still be 100% virtual as far as calls and meetings go (about half of my team is in Pittsburgh, with the other half scattered with no others in my market). I'll go in but no chance I'm doing 8 hours a day to sit on Teams calls.
