Our group had an all-hands meeting recently where we spent 45 minutes witnessing managers patting themselves on the back and 5 minutes of dodging questions about backfilling roles, future layoffs or severance. So yeah, super useful and effective. I'm still trying to figure out what was the point.

They are being required to by HR.
Anyway, the plan is clearly to amputate whole functions. So even Sr. Dirs don't know.

they probably have no idea or control of the layoffs, hiring and anything regarding the business what so ever
the patting on their own backs is to justify their own roles because they are fearing a layoff like the rest of us
