Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell layoff pattern

Has anyone else noticed a growing pattern / trend with Dell layoffs where "someone" will "leak" information about a particular group or org's upcoming layoffs, but layoffs are not for months out. Then, the company will do everything in its power to make their lives a living he-l so they quit on their own before their slated layoff time.

I've seen this pattern over and over now. Pretty slimy way to run a business. The forced attrition has gotten out of control.

@a8 Thats cool but this is a DELL board. Nobody gaf about those other companies because we don't... work there!

Dell has been laying off a LOT of people for the last 6 years and of those years, it was always two large layoffs/year and then trickles in between. Feb/Aug were the "layoff season" for Dell in which they would axe a few thousand, then in between it was minimal but also weekly.

The reason Dell stays out of the news is because they don't ever layoff enough people at a single location to trigger a WARN act, and they 100% pay off companies to list them as a "best place to work." lol

@a8

With those 60 tech companies, I suspect there were more layoffs. Dell did a good job of keeping those layoffs out of the news for the past several years. I am sure those 60 tech companies are doing the same.

Dell Technologies' total workforce declined by about 10%, or 11,000 employees, in fiscal 2026, it said on Monday, a sign that the Al server maker is limiting external hiring to reduce costs. The company spent $569 million in severance payments in this period, compared with $693 million a year ago, its annual report showed. Dell had about 97,000 employees as of January 31, down from about 108,000 employees a year ago. Its workforce had declined by about 10% in fiscal 2025. Silicon Valley employees have grown increasingly concerned about Al disruption in recent months as 60 tech companies have laid off more than 38,000 employees this year!

Yep, pretty much happened to me. I was lucky and that I had a boss who was about to retire and he flat out told me not to bother with RTO when the mandate came down last year.

I was laid off a month later. So he saved me a month of having to go into the office for no reason.
