Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO noncompliance = inconsistently meets

If you missed the 3 days in office average for 2025- you are about to get an “Inconsistently Meets” rating for the year. We had managers in our area that had to downgrade team members from “Exceeds” to I/M. It was escalated up to legal and management was told no exceptions.

I got an IM and I used the 3 days of 4 hours of PTO and was compliant but they said I was clearly against collaboration on my review...well damn...I would have uses vacation as actual vacation instead of way to avoid toxic workplace...

lol, you're going to get rewarded alright, with a layoff. Compliance won't save you. Being in India might, but not compliance.

This is actually the best situation for everyone. All those that complied with coming in the appropriate amount of days as mandated should be awarded appropriately. Those that didn't should be punished accordingly. As long as they are consistent.

@c1 I never got an IM and got laid off anyway.

Meets at 6 months. Medical accommodation at end of year and now IM office requirements even thought medically approved to wfh. Lol. Told me I’m not meeting in office requirements. I’m on a train too so when the train doesn’t show up, you must take pto.

@fs
Well its like this. We are debating semantics. I was TERMINATED on 9/30. Yep, given a package. BUT, I'm still out of a job. So I'm looking for work, the market sux at the moment, whats the difference? Most states have UI as well, so both routes end up with 26 weeks of UI at a minimum. And no job.

terminated = no severance, no notice period - done "for cause"
displaced = severance with notice period - done "for efficiency"

IM being given for not being in the office 3 days.

There is also an uptick in being terminated "for cause" after receiving IM.

the reporting and enforcement of hours in office is not going away and is creating consequences much faster than the attendance reporting (3 day week) did.

And the budget for severance is reduced, but headcount reduction is still in full force.

it doesn't take genius to connect these... More terminations, less severance to pay out...

Those who say "it's impossible to fire someone without a lengthy process..." - not anymore. IM and done.

You know what goal is a lay up people? Showing up to the office for 8 hours a day , 3 days a week. Figure it out

@c5
I concur. "laid off" is a euphemism for "fired", or "terminated". Although, the language in the severance states that one can be called back during the notice period. Not sure I've ever seen or heard that happen. Once you make the "list".....its over.

@bm laid off does not exist, that would mean they would be calling you back to work after a short break. They will terminate you with compensation in the end its all "fired" just said nicely as "displaced"

@c3 what does testosterone have to do with any of it. If you failed to meet start preparing to find a new job

I recently inconsistently met my job expectations. What can I expect? PS I am low testosterone.

@ab they dont care if your work doesn't get done even if it is tied to a consent order. They dont give 2 craps because they do not value their staff and they are happy to pay fines

@bm yes. Anyone who is given an IM is put on the list to displace. Just a matter of when. It WFs way of making your termination easy for them. If you fail to follow the policy an IM is actually gracious since you chose to be insubordinate.

Hold up, is IM a guaranteed termination, or layoff?

Asking because there is conflicting spam, er I mean official communication on this forum, and I need to know just how little work to put in next year in order to get laid off but not termed.

Thanks for your help, trolls, er I mean corporate policy communicators.

Once any of you receives inconsistently meets or worse, start preparing for your layoff. Meanwhile, the manager who loses a billion dollar team gets promoted. It's total lunacy. I have told people I do not want Wells Fargo stock in my portfolio. It's garbage, just like Charlie Scharf. My hope is the firm splits it's bank and brokerage, with JP Morgan getting the brokerage and some mid sized bank getting the rest.

@a8 It doesnt matter if you comply with all their ridiculous sh-t if they have it out for you. Surprise metrics and fails that you never had are included in performance reviews to justify IM and set you up to be terminated and lose merit and bonus. All is in the name of Charlies "attrition" because only money matters to Charles Ebenezer Scrooge Scharf.

Managers are supposed to be reviewing the 8 hour reports weekly now and discussing this with employees not meeting the requirements. Its not just the 3 day in office compliance. I think alot of people are going to have a rude awakening at review time.

@ah
Yes, they are enforcing the 8 hour rule starting next year , not this current bonus cycle.

The 8 hours per day is a different requirement but they are enforcing that too. Will lower your performance rating.

I met the RTO 3 days required, but fall short of the 8 hour in office big time.

So I am safe.

One thing I learn from this WF policies is that, you can always get away with new policies the first two years.

For example, after COVID, the people abusing RTO had no issues for the first two years.

if they try to my group might have to shutter/ close as the 2 of us who it could be applied to do 50% of the work....will have options at other banks and maybe make 20% less elsewhere but will do 100% less shady business imo....its wells fargo who will have problems if they apply this to the actual people who do the work.. I am not going to continue to bend morals for less $$$

This is essentially true, however 2.8 days per week is the expectation over the course of a full year.

Only for the 3 day compliance. They aren’t giving I/M for less than 8 hours, but I’m sure that will be implemented for 2026.

This is such bullsht. What does that even mean-- consistently missed the entire year? Only one instance? With all this stuff coming thru it's like nothing you do matters except the RTO and hours in office. What you delivered throughout the year means jack sht.

Can't wait to GTFO of this place.

Before or after they mandated 8 hours? Anything before the mandate should not be in the calculation
