So the business plan went from hiring cheap new college grads to hiring cheap h1bs to "hiring" cheap AI.

Each plan more successful than the last 🤣

@af So the reason for creating the Innovation Centers was all about hiring cheap newbies with no experience rather than doing actual innovation.

That explains a lot of our problems.

Let's face it. Nothing innovative has come from Georgia since the cotton gin and maybe lemon pepper wings. Keep going Mary, the company is WAY too top heavy still.

@a8 https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2025/10/27/gm-lays-off-325-workers-in-closure-of-georgia-tech-center/86931051007/

I see 300 or 325 depending on which article

@a9 Actually it did make sense the way it was explained by Randy Mott; the purpose of the innovation Centers was to be within a certain radius of the schools where GM was recruiting their talent from. The Innovation Centers in Phoenix, Austin, Roswell, and Detroit were recruiting tools for recent college graduates so that they would not have to relocate across the country. It did stop making sense once GM abandoned the college hire program for IT talent...

Austin has high tech people and Michigan has car people.

California also has high tech people, but they're 2 or 3 times more expensive than Austin.

None of the other ICs brought anything to the table.
