Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Anyone down for a walkout? Town halls, Blue Pulse?

Hear me out… as I’m finishing my required mylearnings for showing empathy (let’s all laugh…) I got mad. This was terrible. People are calling it HCSC HUNGER GAMES WEEK. I’m sick to even be here still. How this was done was appalling. “It’s business”. Ok? And we’re people being treated like garbage and tossed aside overnight. I’m done. Next town hall, I’m registering and walking out. Next blue pulse survey? All 0’s with no comments. They want compliance, fine but it’s malicious compliance while I look for a new job.

So much for transparency, open communication and this great company vision. Apparently it’s only for the executives who make millions who don’t do a dang thing for us.

@a8 It was actually 5% of the company - 1500 people ! Also, the company has to file a WARN with IL. Since I've been hearing rumors of this RIF for the past month,, I have been checking the site and nowhere have I run into a notice of it. It has to be filed like some 60 days before.

@d3 I do, but after all of this went down, I don’t want to work here anymore. So not for long. If they offered voluntary lay offs, I’d take it at this point. HCSC has gone downhill in their ethics and values significantly in the past 5 years. It’s very obvious judging by the CEOs vast salary increase every year for 3 years in a row where the priorities are. Doubling your salary must be nice every year while your employees suffer and go bankrupt trying to get healthcare with our 💩 plan and high deductible. It makes me sick.

It would be more impactful to not fill out the Pulse survey than to put all zeroes or ones. Because the completion rate is honestly the only thing they care about. It speaks volumes if you’re to disengaged to even complete the engagement survey.

dont fill it with zeros, theyll just throw your survey out with the outliers

@OP great idea. Blue Pulse is a joke and has been for a while. It is so sad to see how this company has changed. "With our members in sickness and in health" makes me cringe at the hypocrisy.

@a8 layoffs happen, yes. But for a company that “won” (quotes.. because it was a bought award) the most ethical company of 2025, this is disgraceful. No heads up. No communication. No transparency. If that’s what our LEADERS want to model, that’s what they’ll get in return. They better update those core values quick, because they broke about every single one of them.

@OP anyone calling it Hunger Games is a child. Layoffs happen. It su-ks. But it was like .01% of our total headcount. Not a bloodbath people want to make it out to be

This will do absolutely nothing but I agree with the sentiment. Best course of action now is to update the resume, begin applying, and hope they do another round of layoffs or offer a VSP in the meantime
