Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Anyone being asked to track their time exempt employee?

Today my manager held a my 1:1 and told me he needs to me to start tracking my “activities” with how much time each takes. He claims upper leadership is wanting to get a better idea of the teams activities. We have about 8 people on our team.
Anyone else having this happen and what would you do if you did?
I’ll comply but I am trying to understand it because I get my work done in a timely manner, even with the additional items I have taken on and been asked to perform.

@ay Well is that’s the case maybe my manager shouldn’t ask me to do 12 things per day additionally on top of what I’m supposed to be doing. I would have more time.

My team has been doing this for a couple weeks now. We were told we have to do it for a whole month.

Time tracking isn’t necessarily strange. But, since this is Optum, I think they’re requesting it because they have no fu--ing clue what you do, and want to firm up the position description for offshoring.

@a7 No wait for the severance especially if you have been here for a while.

They are doing workforce analysis to see how many they can cut, offshore, or replace with automation.

Means you aren’t producing enough and they’re trying to figure out what you’re actually doing all day.

If it’s in PPMO then yes it’s normal. If it’s not in PPMO and they want you to email or message it, then yes, you should be concerned about it.

Yes indeed. Keep in mind if it is a Sunday and you are thinking of the upcoming work week - that is work time. Same thing late at night or early mornings on a jog. Thinking of work - IS WORK.
