@OP I’ve been fortunate to be with the company over 10 years. Where there is smoke there is fire so they say. Seems to me there have always been layoffs when they are mentioned on this website.

......Posts like this make me smile. Not too sure why. Maybe it's the outrageous level of stupidity and/or denial thinking that their jobs are safe or, even worse, that this company actually cares about them? Or, even better, the fact that karma has a swift and strange way of silencing these id--ts.

There have been over 200 site closings last year - and predicted to be 400+ more for 2026. Mandate to have 75% of labor force off shore.

these are not rumors... hard facts from real estate.

With all the closings will bring RIFs.

Playing with emotions?

When they tell you and your colleagues that they're eliminating your positions the week before Thanksgiving after 16 years of being a top performing employer, and all you can think about is how or if you can tell your family this right before the holidays... then you can speak. Otherwise stfu. Shame on you.

Wish I could believe it but it’s true. They are also aggressively changing the sales-oriented compensation so you are basically fired if you miss a goal and the goal can be changed monthly.

OP, you must be new, or like I tell the higher-ups- You can be positive, but you better be reali$tic first... Mr.Jakaz at the top don't care about our customer service & if we deliver med's at 2am with a happy face- he cares about his pocket$.
The whole reason I come on this site is because many were posting/warning of the massive 30,000+ UHG/Optum RIF that did actually happen August 10th 2023.

@a7 I agree! But, I think those that are RIFd will be the lucky ones. They will be looking for jobs while the economy hasn’t fully tanked.

Those remaining here, on shore, will have it rough. They are tracking everything you are doing, reporting on it, and determining your worth by it. NOT what work you get done, oh no, that won’t matter. You MUST use AI for everything. Complete AI zombie zone!

I'm sure there will be RIFs, things like behavioral health, teams from acquired businesses that already have Optum teams supporting the same role, operational scale back with 1 million less MA members (select PPO plans in specific geographies). If you support those then RIFs are more likely, if not then all this doom and gloom about 20/25% reductions are as OP stated - not true.

If you're working on projects, involved with the business in many ways, part of a team that can communicate some degree of vision and future state - you're probably fine. We had the same discourse last year on this board.

It is legit. I had to justify in so many different ways as I didn’t want to give anyone’s name for RIF as we are already barebones. Goal was to reduce 15% cost. Told my boss to give mine instead.
