Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Gotta pay for that ballroom

We were told we were a family. That this culture was different. It’s only a matter of time before you are deemed not efficient enough and they show you the door.

I had coworkers that have recently been on baby bonding leave, others that are in their early 60s and too young to take Social Security. Not efficient.

I’m so sick of it. Anyone with a VP title and making these decisions just cares about the stock price and their payout and making sure that they have enough. Last year alone our CEO sold over $40 million in stock, that’s on top of his salary. Oh and how many millions did the Ballroom donation cost T-Mobile? I guess they’re making up the difference now.

The only thing I think we can do is join together and unionize through CWA just like ATT and Verizon have done. We need better protections, more transparency, and a seat at the table when we can get it. I don’t know how we do this but I know I’m tired of being thankful that it wasn’t me that was let go this time around.

@cx I think your evaluation is poor. How about this: New CEO wants cuts on top of cuts to surge profits so he can have a little nice one liner about millions of dollars in cost reductions for his earnings call. But sure maybe it’s actually about busses?

@a8 Poor evaluation. Company hired too many people to ride the bandwagon without enough productive work for them to do. Yes they were given things to do, but aside from building the headcount to support people to be promoted to higher positions increasing overhead, they didn't contribute to "keeping the wheels on the bus" or building new busses. CWA is all about insinuating themselves into companies and afterwards keeping that status quo in place even if its harmful to the bottom line.

@ah I can’t tell if the Debbie downer comment is serious or sarcastic?? When you run all the different T-Mobile team phrases together it sounds like a religious cult.

@a7 not a troll. 15 years in telecom. Sincerely open to ideas. From what I understand, workers under unions generally get better severance than non-unionized workers. So yeah doesn’t stop the layoffs but could help remaining employees basically pre-negotiate on the inevitable.

@OP very well said indeed. This company has flipped on its employees.Absolutely disgusting behavior from the top down. I fear there is no bottom to where this company might go.

Rah Rah union ? Didnt do Verizion or AT&T workers any as they downsized. CWA trolls, stop wasting your members dues with these pathetic attempts to get more companies sc--wed with your overhead.

@a5 true. Only the ones who have been spared till the next round can do anything. What I’ve read about collective bargaining agreements is that it can’t save you from layoffs altogether but it can help laid off employees have better access to get new positions or get rehired for the same or similar roles.
