Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Leader Travel Expectations

HBA GPs will be expected to travel 50% and other HBA leaders will be expected to travel 25%.

Couple of thoughts...

Why are we trying to induce senior leaders to leave...I thought all the ER restructuring was supposed to address that?

This seems like a huge expense for the firm with a pretty ambiguous value add. Is it enough to offset the travel coats of $20k+ per year per leader? I'd rather have that hit my bonus.

@py Correct. We keep being told that we need to evolve out of our old ways so we don't end up like blockbuster video. Then, at the same time the GPs circlej--keach other over the RTO mandate, have distain for WAH, and have adopted a 1980 wall street boomer culture of how to do the work....but it's okay to have 1000s of remote indians doing the needful 3 oceans away. insert clown face

EJ going back to the old ways of working while the rest of the world embraces technology and remote work to attract and retain top talent. Another example of why PP is unfit to lead. Even if she’s not making these recommendations, she’s definitely signing off on them.

@nc totally agree. Miserable leaders make for miserable teams.

@OP Most HBA GPs will su-k it up because they make 3-5x what they would in any equivalent role at another firm. What they will do is make everyone else miserable because now they are. Cue micromanaging, unnecessary fire drills, and pet projects to deliver anything (regardless of value).

@jz this. Unless you have a reason to want to move to a HQ location you probably are better off in your own city. I wanted a remote role years ago and got it here only for that to be taken away. It’s not bad 3 days a week due to flexibility and 4 wouldn’t be either but without flexibility it would be a bit of a leap of faith to feel really secure moving for a role that could have more changes. To each their own on but moving for any company is not my thing.

@gc Why would I move for a company that is implementing policies to make it harder to work there? I'd be stupid to uproot my family to move to a city with less economic opportunity for an employer who is this unstable. Remote work and flexibility was a differentiator for me. I can easily find a hybrid job in my home city and intend to do so.

Everything has a price, I'd consider moving if I got a raise big enough to cover the loss of my spouse's income and a golden parachute severance package.

@e0 eventually they wan the talent to be near Edj hubs. We will see whether people are willing to move for a job.

@e6 yes, it was a pay increase and I already knew many people that work at my new place. I work harder than pre-ER but not as hard as post-ER.

@cx, are you in a happier place? I'm fixing to lose my marbles working and am looking to get out.

Here’s the thing that I found interesting….

There was a blurb about relocation packages. I can’t wait to hear about that one.

@cx GPs have to do 2 weeks a month regardless of locations. Level 13 above full week per month. Other leaders and associates are 2 visits per year. Lots of vague language in this AI generated email. Lots of pi---d off confused people too. Good job ELT, you have once again shown how much you hate us, and how utterly stupid and short sighted you are. I hope karma comes for you.

I recently left the firm. So HBA GPs have to be in office 2 weeks per months and HBA leaders have to be in office 1 week per month?

@a7 that's why I'm working on my resume today. My career with the firm used to be fun, collaborating with my peers. Now when I work I'm so sick to my stomach.

@OP Prior to Covid, all leaders and GPs were expected to be in the office. There were no leaders allowed to work from home. So I could see if they reinstated RTO for leaders.

That being said, I find it ironic that they want to market to "New Generations" and don't respect their own employee HBA agreements that were already approved. They don't respect the lifestyle and needs of the new generations, where working from home in a non-leader role, should be standard for a high performers.
