Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

October 23rd - Huge RIF coming

RIF coming soon and notifications will be on 10/23. Believe it will be 6% across the company and all departments will be impacted. Thanks for the usual early Christmas present, Verizon.

@OP False info. RIFs may happen, but no as big as exaggerated. When unemployment increases in USA, people still won't cancel their wireless provider, because they depend on their cell phone for almost everything these days.

Go visit your doctor and tell him you want to go on short term disability due to work stress, lack of sleep, heart issues, etc. That will buy you at least 4 weeks if not more.

Volunteer for strike duty if you want to avoid the RIF. Lots of OT vs RIF. Why do you think they are asking for volunteers now?

@OP aren’t rif notifications normally given on Friday’s?

Interesting timing, well I mean with the company asking for volunteers to back fill in case a VZT strike. How many volunteers that signed up to do strike duty will get a rif?

Same as every year at the end of October. Nothing new here: off the books by the end of the year and a good severance.
Everyone should be prepared as always.

@cb no one who actually takes calls makes $100k. Not even close. We do spend most of our time sorting out messes made by overseas call centers though. All of those poor leadership decisions of the past rolls down hill and settles at our feet to fix somehow.

Call center representatives need to be cut. They’ve allowed all calls to be outsourced and refuse to RTO. The joy of working from home making $100k by just answering calls has ended. Employees should’ve RTO and shown there worth, and there jobs would’ve been valued.

I sure hope not. I make an outstanding salary but have zero skills. I don’t really want to flip burgers for a living.

Will it be a VSP?

Would think higher than 6%. 6000 is a signicant number but after working for 6 CEOs (NJB - Vz), if there is no focus on Director, SVP levels nothing will change.

Vz issue can’t execute and with DEI Directors it won’t get fixed.

3Q results will be bad and cutting heads is cutting your way to enhance earnings but zero impact on top line.
