Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Did the Board find God or are they bound to make the same mistake

They are, after all, the ones that let Mark run this place into the ground.
They should have all been let go to, unless they found God and see the error of their ways.

@a7 Hallway talk in Waterloo is that the board was divided between Mark and Sandy as to marketing direction. Doesn’t make sense, but that’s the story.

The board members who refused to let Mark go 10 years ago are the ones who need to also be fired.

The announcement to the press is deliberate - Mark was informed by the board of the change. That's the. BOD saying that they are now driving this leadership change and the eventual changes to the company. It also is a way for them to say, Mark created this mess, Mark is the reason OT is on a downward slide, and now that reason is gone.

And bringing on a retired military human to independently lead. The effort, is also very deliberate. Board of directors means business, that they are approaching this with strong, militant, oversight. The independent director is the one in charge. He interacts with the OT leaders still in place. He will sniff them out as well. Resignations will be coming from Mark's direct reports. They are all scrambling right now.

My guess is that we will go back to being a Canadian company where there are no US based ELT. It’s also clear that Mark was justifying his acquisition decisions in his final interview: https://youtu.be/73xlJWzNIKQ. Time will tell if the new leadership will keep all the “non-core” products.

Although there’s no way to know for sure, the rumours I’m hearing is that the board was divided. Some board members like Tom supported Mark while others saw him for what he truly was, a failure. The question is why did the board members standing against Mark finally win

Nah. Thats not how Board thinks. They generally care why the CEO isn't able to move the stock price up consistently while also getting a bad rep for the company. So, they have terminated him (I'm sure with very good golden parachute since he was a bloated CEO+CTO).
