New operating unit merges cardiac surgery and aortic

From LinkedIn just now, from Karim Bandali:
"I am excited to share the creation of a new Operating Unit at Medtronic focused on Cardiovascular Surgery. Today, we unite Cardiac Surgery and Aortic — each with deep expertise, talented people, and a shared commitment to patients and clinicians."

@eg 3? Aortic in Santa Rosa was very, very sparse.

Medtronic is trying to sell this division but there are no buyers. They have about 3 years to show growth (still for sale) and then they'll close it if not growing.

@a6 wait until you hear him talk about how people are his “why”. The pony trick only works if his boss is around or he has an audience. Disgusting!

@av never let pass a good opportunity to trim headcount and improve shareholder value / executive compensation.

Did this merge trigger a layoff

Geoff actually split into 20 OUs during his vaulted "op model" transformation, not 16.. Between that bloat and the GOSC disaster he's responsible for the worst re-orgs in recent MDT history.

What is wrong with these people

Anyone else remember when GM split into 16 OUs during Covid from 4? And now things have come back full circle back to where it began by combining them back

The only person who truly deserves to be fired is GM

Cardiac surgery has had layoffs every single year for the past +5 years… specially in the R&D department. Any traces of a “culture” in that place has been eroded to the point of no return.

To anyone looking to work there, just DONT. They just went through a significant layoff yet there are multiple openings WITHIN THE SAME FUNCTIONS THAT DID layoffs. If that is not a big enough red flag, I don’t know what is.

Brilliant marketing move….when something isn’t working just change the name for a bit more sizzle….then move on to a different job before accountability catches up with you!
