Anyone in Housecalls get the gaslighting email from leadership last week? Seems in many and I'm guessing most markets, APCs are complaining of the unrealistic expectations this year and how goals are more difficult to achieve. Basically told; we hear you, metric, metric, metrics, some untrue BS, you should be grateful for your job, complete your notes while you're in this disgusting run down homes, with potential insects or parasites, cigarette or weed smoke, for the benefit of company. If you can't see all of your overbooked day, call your lazy and never advocating manager to cancel a patient. Because, as a masters degree trained professional, youh can't make you're own decisions on how to manage your day!! Oh to surely add how important boundaries and mental health are to minimize burnout. 😡 all this with less pay than last year.

those end of the year visits are next level! I take a cr-p ton of PTO at the end of the year, change my hours so I'm NEVER working after 4 pm AND I take the metrics hit and don't care!
@jm oh.my.word! I’m going to have nightmares over this one. I’ve been with HouseCalls for 14 years and have had way too many close calls…..all because of metrics and refusing makes me “look bad.” Visits get so scary, especially at the end of the year when they are pushing patients to agree to visits when they really don’t care to….
@dt oh really ?
@e2 it's buried deep in Reddit. When CTMs are asked they say they cannot disclose due to privacy. But apparently it was in TX, an APC was locked into a room or basement for a few hours. They are still out on leave.
@e3 Some report that it’s an email received from CTM relaying some concerns shared with DCOs during a skip meeting. It was their response to concerns shared by APCs re unreasonable workload, inability to see four members in a four hours time slot, “balance capacity” not working, safety, etc. They acknowledged in a way OP shared adding that they had contracts to abide with and promises to deliver on; hence, continue working in these conditions.
@dv how do we read about it? Can you send link?
@dv please tell us more about this incident. Since Optum is never transparent - those of us not in the area know nothing.
No one wants to mention the incident in TX that apparently triggered the big OSV push. Idk why no transparency. I mean— I know because it’s a company built on dishonesty. I only wished the APC affected had pressed charges. Google search shows nothing but there was a post on Reddit that checks out.
@bz we all did. And if you got less than a 3, you’re next on the chopping w
@ab wtf are you even talking about?! Delusional. These are facts and not a judgement. Relax.
@cz When in doubt always form a committee lol Typical corporate bs.
@ab These homes are beyond dirty and basically once that NP is there now is responsible for the safety of this member. If they walk out of the home without bringing in APS or other resources they are guilty of negligence. So not sure how the plan gets away with not providing some kind of support to the member.
@OP in the Texas Market for utilization review, the manager AW had the highest burnout of staff and her solution was to form a committee, and give them some pointers on how to manage their time and than basically blame them for their burnout meanwhile having insane metrics , and worried that the Director and the VP would not keep giving her cudos for a job well done. Imagine getting an email at 2 pm all in CAPS demanding up to 40 cases still needing review when her staff had allready cleared 100’s. Maybe a committee will work for Housecalls. LOL.
You're working for an insurance company . Under a plan that rations care to make more money for the insurance company .
In a year these folks will be talking to a CoPilot chatbot for their check ins. Run, don't walk, away from this company. These jobs are very short for this world at a company whose only plan to return to growth is cutting overhead.
@OP not to mention they don't even cross reference to see if the members are s-x offenders or violent criminals, but want to make sure you use your OSV!
Unsolicited opinion- Yes, it is unrealistic to chart in a patient's home. They want to chat. Computer doesn't want to sync. On dirty houses- Yes, some homes are worse than others. Yes, sometimes it's because they are lazy, sometimes because they are poor and oftentimes because they are sick or handicapped or all of the above. AND look, Housecalls charting lends evidence that the actual patient is not portrayed many times- so I doubt many NPs are sticking it out in the smoke filled living room- charting looks more like a conglomeration of data found in other data bases -which doesn't add up when I ACTUALLY see the patient. So yes, it is mostly UHC/Optum's fault. BUT, it is also the fault of the NP, because professional nurses should be able to answer for every patient encountered during our work. Unsolicited advice- I'd look for other work, it's a long hard road to find the same pay, but it IS out there- and I think we'll all sleep better once these fake-ish programs are kaput.
In a different department, but manager updated our goals/expectations yesterday to numbers that everyone knows we don't have and are unrealistic. This place is looking for ways to fire for cause so they don't have to pay severance or unemployment.
YEP. I got a 3 on my yearly review. Despite doing a ton of extra stuff and having "amazing" metrics.
ok then. I'll show you a damn 3. Meanwhile looking intensely for another job.
@ab Describing the very real conditions doesn't mean someone is looking down on them. These are just the facts.
Yeah let’s look down on people with low income or otherwise can’t clean their homes due to disability or you guessed it, chronic medical conditions. I’m glad your karma has met up with you because your aura is disgusting.
It time to find a new job!! Start applying every where because this job is probably not going to be there in next year or two. Then there will 5,000 NPs looking for same job! I've been applying for last 3 months!! Good luck with your search and do the bare mininum don't work over scheduled hours.
