Heard a rumor that Dell is trying to acquire the HP client business? Anyone else hearing this?

Absolutely zero way lol
Acquisition is in the wind, but I think the lip stick is being refreshed on this Pig (Dell).
@b5 it's not about helping the poor. Hope you have figured that out.
Ok, does anyone recall the rumors ~2015 or so? Dell was purchasing another large company and in the end, that company ended up being MSD's new shiny toy. In this case HP will be bought and will lead the CSG business. The target is for that division of Dell to be called HPell and sold off or a completely separate division. EMC and old Dell will be two different entities again.
@b5 No, it's a way for the rich to get richer. It's forced pay in for every new kid born. Find out where that money is invested and line must go up because there's constant buy pressure, just like the investment bots that wait for the large company payroll 401k purchases weekly to skim the top
Thanks for the layoff information.
Y'all are fu---n stupid if you think this ain't gonna happen.
The rumors have been clear from the very beginning:
Dell is gonna buy HP, but only after HP buys IBM.
After that, Nvidia's gonna buy Dell and then be bought by Microsoft for $8 trillion.
After that, the Microslop Nvidia Dell Corporation is going to buy OpenAI and then Alphabet will Form The Head.
After that, I'm sure at least a few of you saw the documentaries that came out in the 80s about the new company that will be born of our pain: Voltron, Defender of the Universe!
P.S. As part of this, every single human being on Earth will get laid off and be left to fight each other for the luxury of eating the fattest, juiciest rats in the gutter. It has to happen, or the shareholders won't allow us to resist the evil King Zarkon.
What would be the reason for acquisition ?
There isn't anything HP Ink has that Dell doesn't - oh, the printers you mean? Very thing that is about to be history in near future
HPE would be much closer target and much more realistic as would let dell purchase market share
Sounds more like an LSD trip.
@af You are aware of what that 6b was for, right? It was not a "donation to Trump" but a donation to a new program that yes, Trump created.. for CHILDRREN. He gave a large sum of money that would be used as part of an investment program for American children which was designed to build long-term wealth. The donation aims to give $250 accounts for around 25 million children under age 10 in lower income areas.
Why is this an issue for you? Are you against someone helping poor income families with children? Or are you against giving children a literal fund for their future to help them succeed in life.
My guess is that you hate it simply because Trump.
Assuming this rumor is true...
This would pass the US anti-trust laws, no problem.
Apple is a big player. So's Lenovo. Asus, Acer, Hauwei, Samsung, Microsoft (surface). There are many other bit players. And you can build your own.
Dell and HP combined would be worldwide 30% or so. We've allowed cell phone network, military manufacturing, aerospace, software mergers that have been worse than this, and this is in a space that is a supposed commodity.
The only carve out would be some rules around channel/distribution, because there would be a lot of complaints there. Other than that, good!
@a6 MSD's $6.25b donation to Trump says otherwise
it's not a monopoly
Anti trust with PC’s, PC’s were important 15 years ago. No one cares today.
@OP That’s just delusional. Wouldn’t pass the sniff test on anti-trust.
