Our manager is making us come in, seems ruthless. I’d like to have the option of sobbing in the privacy of my own home. For the love of god, what is the obsession with being in the office. Give us our dignity during such a high stress time.

in most cases they will let leaders know tomorrow, but they will not let workers know until Friday in most cases. They may want folks in to collect laptops and company equipment, vs trying to deal with the logistics of them trying to get those back from pi---d off folks who just lost their jobs.
Upper levels of management have been avoiding frontline leaders for 3 weeks with cancelled meetings, visits, etc. The rumors are pretty solid that the most hit group will be Verizon retail, with lots of stores closing and more being sold off to 3rd parties, what that means for their jobs is still unknown. Reality is they crippled the company last year with VSP, where most of the tenured talent took the buyouts because they saw the future of this happening. Each day every current Verizon worker, and customer is impacted by things that break because they let many of their best folks walk out the door with a big check, systems have broken more often and take longer to fix. Daily incoming revenue is impacted by failed systems and customers simply choosing other carriers because it is easier than dealing with Verizon and our customer service. A real shame to watch a company fall from greatness to this in 10 years, corporate greed and the desire to meet the demands of shareholders over actually caring about customers or employees, that is how you fall so far so fast.
@a8 deadlines. meetings. new work on things that won't matter fri
@a6 this. the amt of 6/7 band emps forced to go in this week or not given option.
What stops you from staying home and taking a mental health day just go plan something fun instead
The teams being asked to wfh are affected. If you're coming in office, you're safe
No... and to the leaders who didn't have the decency to make that offer...or just said everything is roses (regardless if they suspected or knew of org impact)... what in the WORLD were you thinking?! That single small move, would have gained you so much respect from those that are and aren't impacted. You think that's forgotten? You think we don't know the leaders who weren't pretending it's BAU? How do they not get that? How do they not read a room? For those left... those leaders that did that... your top performers will fight to get off those teams the second an opportunity arises. The leaders that handled this week well, made the best of a terrible situation for their people. You will have your pick of the remaining talent.
think of the bright side. maybe you are safe
your manager is not afraid of being slapped...
You have every right to WFH on Thursday.
@a1 that’s what I was wondering- maybe it could be a good sign?
my team was given no direction one way or the other (br) - team cals also seem very normal so not sure if theyre going to spring these convos on us OR no news is good news OR no news is bad news. SO FUN
