Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Remember how Agile was supposed to save us?

As the dust settles on this cluster fu-k of a reorg, I can’t help but think back to Agile. Remember when that was going to save everything? And how performative people proclaimed its benefits, even if it was just a “mindset”? And yet - when was the last time anyone even mentioned it.

And now, the same LT that forced that down our throat with the delusional thinking of how it would save us, are trying proclaiming ENGINE as the next savior. The emperor has no clothes kids. Time to let them know.

Ahh Agile - great job, millennials! Glad you "saved" the company from those stone age Boomers!

He-l, remember CSOC and the CPMS? No matter your opinion on it, it was a common grounding for everyone for how we did things and made decisions. Turfed out for something new (can't remember what) or maybe nothing at all?

@a6 Same process now for FIRM, DCAM and Digital Core. They will all be down the toilet in 2 years, then on to another flavor.

@a6 I do remember Agile. It was so funny how badly that was implemented."

Loved the SMART payment system, piece of cr-p, for paying invoices that needed to go through 8 inboxes for approval, from people that had no idea of what they were approving in the first place. Then if you have a problem, you are stuck with some flub in the Philippines that is even for confused than the 8 in the approval loop.

Oh, and how about the "Modern Desktop" rollout POS. Agile! Laughable a joke of a corporation run by joke leadership that don't have a ounce of creativity, thoughtfulness, or initiative. Steve Miller said it best - "Take the Money and Run".

OKRs and SAFe are additional shiny objects that were solutions looking for problems. All it did was fund consultants and not force leaders to think and lead for themselves.

I do remember Agile. It was so funny how badly that was implemented. "Hey, you peons - do Agile". But management wouldn't do Agile and wouldn't do their part to get the Enterprise level Epics, etc. together and prioritized. What a disaster. Management wanted the supposed "visibility" into the work progress that all the tracking of stories, etc. gives, but wouldn't do jack themselves. Just make more dashboards! That'll fix it. Or, I know, let's fire the scrum masters. That should make it work. Bunch of id--ts.
