Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Got a Fedex letter from Oracle, asking me to apply for some positions

Anyone else got it? I'm in SF bay area, and the letter has couple job codes for bay area too. It asks me to apply for those.
Why does Oracle send out this letter by Fedex? It seems they laid off too many people, and they're desperately looking for new ones. I just had a long vacation, and planned to start looking for new job now, so I'm thinking if I should apply. If I do, and got the offer, do I need to return the package I got earlier?

I am in SF bay area and I got a similar letter yesterday... Expedited delivery via FedEx. It su-ks that they are offering positions AFTER we were let go. And even if we do get the job at this time, we have to give back severance too. :/

This has a huge potential to be a scam. A lot of people are getting scammed with fake job offers. Do some research. They want your personal information and people desperate for a job are more likely to give it up.

@bs For the next year or two, all bets are off. Too many people are raking it in with the stock lottery. It's an addiction. With stocks that went up 20x to 40x in a couple of quarters, the people who matter have a MASSIVE conflict of interest in calling out the scam.

As Ronny Chieng said, it's for the younger people to destroy this. (Look this up.)

Even if you applied and get selected, you could be on the layoffs list again in next year. Better work for some other company that has no year to year layoffs.

Bullsh-t letter, I had applied via email, no response from Oracle, nothing came from it for me, classic Oracle cover your a-s. Apply and see your luck

They're going to offer you a slot at 50% of what you were making before.

@a3 I'm a software developer, and the positions listed on the letter are also software developers. I'm really surprised to get this letter too. It asks me to email my resume to an email address, and include the job codes in the letter. So it seems they've done some pre-screen to match me with some positions already.

You're kidding! Oracle being that pro-active? Unless it's a hiring manager who is good and knows you, this seems unlikely. What skills/domain do you identify with?
