Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Just do it already

Get rid of all of us you want to. I'm tired of constant threats of layoffs. Let's have one huge round: show the door to every single person who you thinks needs to be out so that those who are left can once again fully focus on their work. This is exhausting.

Fair point. I’ve seen hundreds of workers ‘disengage’ under the constant, looming threat of layoffs. The cost to Dell over time (from the distraction and fear, and focus lost) is greater than the cost of the package.

There’s also a huge cost in rotating reps / accounts. Customers have expressed to me directly, they are leaving Dell due to constant disruption (Feb, Aug)

@OP if you are in a financial position to leave, I would leave and forget about any sev pacakage. The anger I see on here is similar to the anger I once had and now I am very happy. To me I felt like I was slapped across the face and couldn't do anything about it. Take control, quit, and be in a happier place. Forced attrition/constructive discharge is coming and only a few lucky will get the sev package. Break it down to financial terms, 2 months pay and plus a week for every year. For many it is 20-50K. To me it wasn't worth waiting around. Go find your happiness, there are much better companies and options elsewhere, trust me, I have been around.

@a2 it's absolutely a process consolidation, theoretically anyway. It's ERP trash by Oracle so don't put too much stock in it. We still haven't launched any meaningful functionality in my area. But if it is successful, it will capture all those CTRL C + CRTL V processes, mapping inside a single tool, then automated to the extreme and AI'd to the bedrock.
What's the Kalshi / over-under on Pete T. getting zipped by next year because he's not moving fast enough for Capt. T-Shirt?

Tapping has been a thing in Limerick since the 2009 culling of manufacturing... not so it would hit the headlines but it was evident to those in the office.

ODW isn't a tool. it's a lifestyle.

It may have been lost in the many threads, but Dell does not want to do massive layoffs in any one state or region. To do so can incur tax penalties.

@a5

Why are you unable to detect sarcasm when you see it?

Are you "neurodivergent"?

@a2 Hey JC, get back to work and stop posting your stupid t-shirt propaganda on this board. We'd all be better off without any of the managers currently at Dell.

@OP

Hold fast.

This is going to be a marathon as opposed to a single event.

Resign yourself to the fact that you may or may not be let go.

I think One Dell Way is going to be pivotal in all of this. I think it's not only a tool consolidation but a process consolidation.

Good luck to everyone.
