Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

RTO - Questions

I just have RTO questions hoping the group can answer (not complaining, so don't come at me....) RTO is new for our team and I'm trying to get real answers, since no one in my org has answers.

1 - does anyone use a bank-owned iPad and have their hours NOT count/track in the system?

2 - I've seen mentions and heard rumblings of lower pay grades and/or no bonus eligibility for RTO Refusal - is that true?

@gj they want you to despise it so much that your performance suffers and they can fire you, or you quit so they can offshore your job for pennies.

They're trying to get rid of another 6%-10% of the bank. Ask any SVP with a backbone and they'll tell you the same. Essentially, they want you to despise RTO so much that you quit.

@ar absolutely true. I was hired remote and was basically told too bad about RTO. Between when it was announced and happened, I informed my senior leadership that between additional taxes for our location and parking, my folks would lose most of their upcoming merits, and just got a "yeah..." My merit last year netted out to less than $10 per pay period because of those two things.

I do NOT think the iPad's are being tracked and count toward in office. I was on a call for Mac users and we are all showing 0. They said only corporate issued Windows laptops are currently showing up in the report and they are working on the edge cases.

@a7 I don't understand why you're getting down voted for this. None of it is untrue. Just because people don't like it doesn't mean it's not true. Like 😂

Everyone must be cranky after coming back from the holiday weekend

@OP

You announced are that you not going to complain about a RTO mandate? Yeah, you are not going to fit it. Better dust off that resume and get to applying. We all hate this. We all complain.

Not sure about #1. On #2 ... Refusing RTO is grounds for termination. Period. CEO / MC do not care if one was hired remote or has been remote. Company is looking to reduce costs by eliminating US based positions. No chance anyone refusing to comply will continue to be employed at this bank. Best to keep your money elsewhere.

@OP No mention of lower pay grades, but as @a5 pointed out, your performance and review depend on your compliance or lack thereof, and you are subject to disciplinary actions such as PIPs or termination.

You are required to be in office an average of more than 60% of your available working days over each three-month period, full stop, no exceptions unless approved through HR as a flexible work arrangement, no excuses.

They've made it crystal clear and those of us who've been back in office long before now have seen the tolerance for non-compliance go from slim to just about none.

Being in office has become a requirement for most jobs they’ve designated as being in-office. It’s a Workday goal. Refusing is essentially saying I won’t meet the requirements of my job, and yes it will affect your performance and review, and also can be grounds for PiP and termination.
Not defending any of this but since this is new for you, best to get the honest answer.

I never saw it, but last year the bank announced that any individual contributor who didn't go in at all automatically went on a PIP, and for people managers it was 50%. Long term, if your MC protects you, that would work, but if not, sh-t rolls down hill and refusing to comply will put your leadership in a position to performance manage your our they'll be performance managed. I wouldn't try it. You'll have no defense other than to push your boss under a bus.

1) My boss uses an iPad frequently as their only device - if they weren't counting, this person would have complained about it in staff calls and switched to a different device to ensure they hit the metrics

2) All the people I know of who have flat out refused to RTO have been managed out in some way. You will have some time if you just ignore it - likely a couple months as your BL works a case through HR, but there is no path of refusing to RTO and keeping your role without some insane MC level exception.
