Gave this place 18 years. That’s the thank you I got. Loyalty means sh-t these days.

@ag Wow. That is just cold. Were you offered the VRP first? I know those that were and didn’t take were let go in my department. I was too and been there 21 years.
17 years next month….i don’t know…I’m not devastated. Not sure why not….maybe if I hadn’t been remote the last 10 years, maybe I would feel more of a loss of routine and interacting with people. Run me my money though.
Does usual severance still include full benefits including family anyone know?
@OP laid off. Targeting experienced.
@an got layoff today.. hitting experienced people.... Got number of days to layoff..usual severance..
@ab I talked to Managers that were just told today and had to be the messengers of bad news. I could feel in their voice they were forced to read the script, but did not want to tell me that "they were following orders"
Me too - 20 year anniversary would have been next week.
@ag Damn! What was your role?
@a5 what do you mean zero notice. You are being paid with full benefits for 2 months and then months of severance???
I was JE'd on 1/29 after 39 1/2 years. I'm 62! It su-ks. So sorry for everyone!
Gave 27 years, just for a cold script read.. I’m still in shock..
10 years with the company here, and now at 50 I'm on the job hunt. Still waiting on the email with full information on what to expect.
Fu-k you shareholders.
@OP unfortunately layoffs are not personal and sometimes it’s just as hard for the person doing the layoff to get through the conversation I know one manager that was in tears crying because of it today.
Laid off at 58. Gave 11 1/2 years and given zero notice.
Sorry to hear man that’s tough. Same here after about 10 years. I’m pretty bummed but honestly it’s been miserable here for the past few years so hopefully we will find better companies to work for.
@OP I work at T. Rowe Price in Maryland - I am also in my 50s and our company is laying off left and right. I decided to click on "latest posts" at the top of the screen to see what other poor Americans were also getting the shaft. In our case some people are getting fired outright and some are fired, but must training offshore replacements to get severance. Anyway, Friend, you are not alone. People with decades of service - good people in terms of skillsets and attitudes unceremoniously dumped. One lady was about to go out on maternity leave - fired. When is someone going to stand up for American workers? Especially those of us who will deal with age discrimination?
I feel you, my boss during my JE meeting spent 3 minutes reading a script with 0 empathy or sympathy then hung up.
I’m truly sorry. This is so discouraging and there’s no job security anymore. Wishing good things to come your way from here on out and that this is a blessing in disguise
