Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Carnage

Carnage across Tech and Controls teams this week. It’s like a turkey shoot. Sites hit hard New York, Jersey, Tampa and telecommuters. Folk are getting an hour’s notice of the call and their system access is cut at the end. No ifs and no buts just a quick 15 minutes goodbye and good luck.

controls teams, e.g tech for example, are going to be RIF'd to basically nothing over next few years. IT estate shrinking, AI driven processes with automated controls. Some people reading this will be like blah blah blah, I have heard automation before, it will take forever to be in place. However, totally different environment now with agentic AI actually being able to be deployed very quickly. If you were in these groups I would personally be actively exploring elsewhere. I also see this mistake where tenured people especially at certain slightly less costly locations think they are safe and not to fear monger but I dont think you can feel too safe. your role objectively is not that important in the grand scheme of things at Citi

@a5 it capitalism. Need a little more socialism in our politics. More rights for workers, mandated vacation, and the big one, single payer healthcare. Less grifting from DC, higher taxes to pay for sh-t, less billionaires owning political candidates. Abolish citizens United (corporations are not people) are among the few reasonable changes we could make but American votes acquiescence to the over lords ensure nothing will ever change.

Not for me though. Though I’ve voted that way I am firmly in the upward K of the economy. For the last $decade I’ve made multiples of my income in capital gains.

Vote better!

@OP Myself and my five team members in Tampa were let go yesterday. Also, our sister teams lost all but a couple of people. The PH team is still OK so far, but no one even had the courtesy to call them and let them know that the rest of our team was cut. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen senior leadership handle a situation like this so poorly before.

It's a lie or some puppets are telling that layoff news are false?
