Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Jersey wacked all low first line bosses left 2nd and above making big bucks doing nothing

So on a local level in field can only go by what we see and know. What we saw was low level low pay first line bosses getting riffed .While not very useful they might actually have some use!Yet we saw no upper management like 2nd or 3rd liners who actually do nothing but make misery along with Tons of money!!So what we see is this is all a joke .Dan just needed a bit more cash flow from the bottom of the pile. This just means our next contract is gonna be really fun with Dan since he really loves to Rob the lower paid working groups .While moving in all his over paid paypal buddies!!!

It was nice working directly for a second level as a union guy. They’re just very practical and give you the autonomy to “get it done” (i.e. just don’t make them look bad).

Guess it depends on the org but typically you see people being forced down levels if the need is there. Probably going to see some highly paid 1st and 2nd lines when they start reorganizations. However nothing is typical so some might see paycuts when this happens.

@OP They need to keep the second liners around so that they can continue to get rid of customers just like they did in wireless. Second liners hate customers because you tend to spend over time while trying to please a customer... When there's a hit cable on a Friday night you need the second liner to say " I don't care if there's a thousand customers out of service we'll be out there on Monday morning there's no way I'm spending overtime". This job is very important when you're in a company that's designing itself to lose customers.

@a5 Yes exactly, pull up your boots and work hard while the second liner gets paid $200,000 a year to take your attendance.....Because there's not enough first liners anymore.

To all you Good Folks the gravy train of slacking in your life is now become a reality. The American Worker needs to pull their boots up and work hard. My advise it the Good Folks that have lasted this first round is work hard and don't make enemies as you may need a reference.

@OP I have a friend that works for T-Mobile in Jersey he maintains their cell sites .They just went to Lightpath for the backbone to their cell sites because they have better customer service!!p.s these circuits cost around $2K a month x a lot of cell sites!!! I guess we don't need enterprise customers either.
