Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It’s such a fiasco it’s comical

We had to find out from Reuters and the Wall Street Journal that 15,000 of us are losing our jobs this week. But from our own leadership team, we are getting radio silence. Instead, we have to come to this board in order to get any information. It’s tragic. Where is the communication?

@a6 what would you have done with that information besides panic more? Seriously curious to know.

How about the optics of sending a company wide email welcome a new c-suite level employee, the new "Chief Transformation Officer", who officially starts on 11/20, the day many of us will get canned.

You will get the communication on Thursday. The problem with the communication around this one is that it was leaked by someone early. You can blame them for your anxiety.

@a5 after it was leaked, the company had an opportunity to address it head on with employees and show transparency. Think of it as internal crisis management. And I would definitely say that what we’re dealing with right now qualifies as a crisis. Just read this board — people are actually losing sleep over this. That’s how anxious they are.

Im not happy at all but what do you want them to do? Verizon doesnt ever announce layoffs publicly. They inform the impacted people and thats it. They likely picked 11/20 for that day, someone leaked it to Reuters or simply made up that 15k number.

Just looking at this board, the level of panic and anxiety is sky high. People are desperate for information. Any information at all. I’m seeing numerous repeated questions about timelines, leadership changes, orgs that will be impacted, how they will be notified, severance, unemployment, health insurance benefits, access to the building, will they get locked out of their computers, etc

This is Verizon version 2025.

CREDO
"F. U-k the employees let me su.ck of.f our shareholders at the expense of the employees."

EMPLOYEE COUNT
2016 - 160,000
11/21 2025 - 78,000

Number of times a CEO openly said we would have layoffs and actually used the word layoff rather than "be more agile" or "be more nimble" or "be able to react more quickly" because they were weak pathetic scared b. itches and had no courage or respect for the people who have spent lifetimes working for them and making them billions and lining their pockets with tens of millions - ONE

How far ahead should the company inform everyone that there are upcoming layoffs? What purpose would that serve ? There are layoffs literally every year at this time (at least since I've been here) . Consider this notification of the cuts in March
