I'm confused

Are layoffs happening this week or not?

@179 sorry to hear! That stinks! Can I ask what department? Or is it hush hush? I know several teams were given their last day.

Normally Centene gives the employee 60 days notice before their last day of employment, so WARNs is not triggered for most states.

You rarely will see a WARNs except a handful of states that have different set of regulations.

@gn Centene has lost 16k employees over the past few years, definitely didn’t see any warm notices for most layoffs, I wouldn’t expect one this time around either. Layoffs are coming though, trust they will not take this loss well, in 2023 they lost 213 million and thousands were laid off, this time will be no different. Since I don’t care about picking up everyone’s slack, hopefully I’ll be a part of the people laid off. I am over this company 100%

@gn True - however, only if they are laying off 100 or more within a state or county, not company-wide. This is how they have been circumventing the WARN Act, making it a useless tool for anyone to use as a way to mitigate or prepare for possibly being on that RIF list. They are laying off small handfuls of employees across different states to stay under that threshold. Also, explains the lack of rhyme or reason behind the employees chosen to be laid off, since they have to choose whoever they can in that area.

If you want to know if any layoffs are in the works, you would have to check your state for any "Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act". By law, compaines with 100 or more employees are required to file a WARN notice if they are laying off any employees. They need to provide 60 day notice. Again, check your state WARN site (ex. Missouri WARN notices) and search for Centene on the list.

In the Q2 call with investors Sarah stated there would be “rightsizing”, but no other details.

WellCare Medicare appeals team we were notified in May that we will be outsourced end of the year to NTT Data India. The India team is already up and running and working as we are running out of work week by week to them. Not sure we will make it to the end of the year or not.

What was said that leads us to believe there are layoffs coming? Didn’t they specifically say no layoffs due to marketplace?
