Can we negotiate on severance? What should be do if we are let go?

The package is pretty standard for a large for-profit company.
I was told to contact HR with any specific asks after I get the paperwork, but also that they are likely not budging on numbers.
You can try to negotiate a severance, but I'm not sure why Nike would do that. They don't have to provide you a severance package. There's no law requiring it.

Take it . Atleast you are getting some severance . Most companies offer nothing . Just 2 weeks of salary is what you get 90% of the time .
Totally true. You have time to get it reviewed by a lawyer if that's your thing.
To note, you don't get the severance agreement paperwork (that needs to be signed) until about a month after the layoff occurs. Therefore, you won't be signing anything under duress. They people laid off today will be on the payroll as if nothing happened for a couple months at least before the severance check is cut.
Nope, it comes from a person with experience. I was laid off in the last round.
But, by all means, if you have better information, please share it. Unless you have a previous contract with different severance terms, there is no negotiation. You'd have to have some iron-clad proof of discrimination to have any chance of a legal recourse, and a lawsuit will take lots of time and money with no guarantees of success beyond what they are already paying you to go somewhere else. Anybody who thinks otherwise is watching too much TV.
You absolutely are allowed to sign the paper work at a later date (ask HR when it’s due by) and engage a lawyer to review the paperwork before signing anything.

Nope. No negotiation on the severance. It's take it or leave it. This is an "at will" employment state and they don't have to offer you anything.
My advice is to take the money and run. If they are laying you off, it's time to head to different pastures. Don't look back.
