Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

WFH is back

Just wanted to share something I heard from a pretty reliable source they’re bringing back Work From Home for Mondays because of the latest CES results. Apparently leadership took one look at the numbers and feedback and decided to hit the pause button on the full RTO push again.

It kind of makes sense when you think about it. The Chevron Way is supposed to be all about our people being the most valuable asset, building trust, integrity, and taking care of each other while getting results the right way. Forcing everyone back into the office when morale is already low and people are burned out doesn’t exactly line up with that. All the reorgs, constant changes, and pressure have been wearing folks down. Those survey comments probably reflected a lot of frustration and distrust that leadership can’t just ignore forever.

From what I’m hearing, some teams are already being told quietly to plan on WFH Mondays from August.

Has anyone else heard the same? Is your manager or skip level saying anything, or are they still acting like everything’s great? Would be nice if they actually addressed the real issues instead of throwing out occasional WFH days as a quick fix.

I can see a reasonable chance of this being true, 15%, given we support so many service centers now. Currently, I’m up at 6am trying to catch a late nighter from Manila and then supporting BA rest of the day. Until California is gone officially, I miss lunch for their meetings. My day ends around 4pm in the office for 50 min commute to maybe get back online at 5:30 to 6pm for more Manila calls.

If the job market ever bounces back, I’m out first thing. Until then, I’m here to stay!

@ts great, another reply from a sad loser, who hates being around their family more than an hour a day, and who thinks yapping at the coffee bar is “working”. Nobody was making you work from home, coming into the office was always an option.

@ts Do you think that people don’t sc--w around in the office? In the office people spend half their time socializing and not working.

Being able to stay home and play and take care of personal business while pretending to work is back? Awesome! I'm tired of having to actually work. I want everything free and on my own terms.

I doubt MW and the other C-suite psychopaths would ever give up the sadistic joy they feel watching people needlessly sit in traffic jams just to transport their laptop to an office. If anything, they'll target your working Friday to become in-office too.

Seems rather unlikely. I hope people aren’t making life decisions hoping that WFH will let them live somewhere else and commute.

I’ve heard the same, and this is basically now confirmed for sub, surfers, and effective at first of August. It will be announced in the Townhall.

It's a test. If you work from home your job is gone.

I’ve heard the same for IT. CES survey and attrition over the last few months are the drivers

Work somewhere else is also probably coming back.

Seriously doubt it. Supervisor tracks attendance like a school headmaster.
