Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Can we stop, please?

Can we have at least one damn day to relax and take in the fact that we survived instead of having people already talking about future rounds? Are some of you masochists? Are you addicted to drama? What is your problem? The layoffs are over. It’s okay to feel happy about it. FFS.

Anyone who's worked for a company before knows that there are sometimes 2nd rounds. They do round 1, see how things sit, see how the quarter goes, and figure out if they need to cut more.

Asking people to not speculate purely for emotional reasons is ridiculous. It could happen, it could NOT happen.

@a4 Target was DEI before it became a thing. Grow up. They didn't turn their back on anyone, they simply didn't have money to give to organizations anymore because guess what? They are not making money.

Long before DEI Target led at being open to people of all types. The alphabet's, people of all races. People of all ABILITIES! They loved to hire people that might not otherwise get a job for roles in the store. I worked at Target for 20 years and got hit in the last big layoff.

Bob Ulrich had a rule that everybody was special. And we all came in to do work.

@a4 and the way it was done is salt in the wound. Tech issues in the layoff meeting when you're also laying off tech folks is peak Target c-suite right now. I wonder how many Redcards are being canceled today.

I think it’s more of a wake up call not to feel too comfortable. Get your ducks in a row. If there’s a certification or course you’ve been putting off, do it now.

I mean layoffs were a pretty regular thing at Target even when things were going well before BC became CEO.

You sound very naive if you think this is the end of it, Management sc--wed up royally and turned their back on DEI and got Target into this boycott mess which hit Taret harder then they want to admit, and because they don't want to miss out on bonuses, they made a decision. US or THEM and surprise surprise we know who they choose.

The company is in really bad shape, bad publicity, slow lanes(go to any store in the burbs they are all dead espeically the Brooklyn Park location) bad sale numbers. 2026 is going to get worse

Thanks for your input "Melissa"!
In other news, many TMs at corporate have recently took on new mortgages or have had a newborn child and so the potential loss of income might weigh heavier for them.
Most people internally are not feeling relived in a good sense, they're all still shook up.
And it'll take a while for things to feel normal again. With the given economic climate and Target's recent performance, a second round in Q1 is potentially still on the table.

Better to be prepared than put your head in the sand.

Because no one wants people lulled into a false sense of security when there's writing on the wall.
