Were they targeting older employees or is it more evenly distributed?

@a8 do you have an L8? Or an l6 with DRs? If so that may be why
@a4 who knows. my reviews were excellent every year. I'm an L7. no redundancies on my team or other teams and not a role that can easily be transitioned to TII because it required so much face time and collaboration with other teams. wish I could see the rationale for eliminating my position. would be interesting.
@a2 Salaries of higher level employees are higher and are usually employees who worked there way up to that position, so more tenure and biological age. Worker bees let go are probably tied to redundancies or areas not operating efficiently. None of this is personal... Period. Working at a large corporation is not for those wanting warm fuzzies from upper management. You are a tool used to generate profits... Period.
I'm older and I didn't get hit, but some of my younger collogues did. It felt random more than anything. Like some consultant threw darts at a printout of a spreadsheet.
Mixed bag, they say it’s not performance based but can you trust them?
I’m older and still here.
They wouldn’t be targeting older people because of their age, they aren’t that stupid. However, a lot of older people were likely impacted because they higher up, have higher salaries and may be more redundant or non essential to the work.
They would have to balance this to not seem biased by also laying off some lower level (likely younger) people here and there.
I’m 24 so I don’t think they target just older employees
