Thread regarding USAA layoffs

IT budget cut 30%

With IT budget cut for 30%, are they looking for a layoff in ECIO.
ATL dc is up now, classic almost done, how many units can be impacted?

Why is this controversial? Seems there was an announcement of a large cut IT and someone is asking a very obvious question - do we think this will result in a large layoff.

Probably yes. In IT. In the HR and compliance and risk and vendor and third party functions that support those IT teams.

There is cost cutting all over in the industry, there will be cuts all over USAA. Post is bullsh-t as 30% is not practical. Some insecure person with not potential or hope is stirring the pot.

@dn why is this getting downvoted so much? If someone has different rationale then state it instead downvoting without context like a big fat pu--y

Going to share actual info on C2T as someone in infrastructure that's part of the core project:

  • We have 650 EARs left on the farm
  • 450 of those are scheduled to retire before November of this year. As in, on track for shutting down.
  • There is a gap of about 200 EARs that are off-track and won't retire by November.
  • 10 Bank Apps have officially negotiated to push into Q1 2026 (mostly EFT related)
  • Property leadership is in talks literally this week to do the same for some of their apps.

So there you go. To the people making fun of this, the reason this has been such a long and hard journey is because the LOBs always get what they want, and there's never been any central decision authority at the top with the power to make all of them do something together.

Yep, Now that ATL wraps up, the cost cuts will begin - just as we feared. Boston Consulting Group is currently evaluating where to cut.. The first round is expected before Thanksgiving, with a second wave in February. The CEO framed it as a move to 'stay competitive,' but we know what that usually means.

What is your source for ECIO's budget being cut 30%? Not saying you're wrong, I just haven't heard that before.
