Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

“We gotta bring Nike back!”

Between that and “The people is what make Nike” is what they love to say YET they somehow haven’t realized those people are gone due to layoffs or left because of how bad it is. Very few people that work for the brand now actually know and embody what the culture once was. It’s going to take a lot of speak up claims and real investigations with no retaliation to get rid of the bad apples and it starts with leadership.

@fe leaders who visit this site need to understand that we have to stop hitting the reset button every 6 months. You wonder why people don’t care anymore? It’s because every six months you layoff their friends, coworkers, or even people that have been in the trenches with them for years.

The cultures died when we did multiple layoffs from 2020-2025. To get it back, you have to stop trimming people out of the organization.

as former Nike employees long before many of you in this site and still in the industry that observed adidas, UA and Nike for long time, I just want to say that what is going through with Nike is eerily similar to what happened with UA.
UA was gangbuster for few years and when they hit slippery spot(which every company goes through) they kept bringing CEO and upper management people from outside of the industry who emphasized in cleaning up mess that Kevin Planck left and not think about future.
After few cycle of CEO rotation, UA is now spent, unable come out of cr-p that they got stuck because they lack biggest resource that is needed in a shoe company, human one.
I am in a state of deja vu because seems like Nike is trying to do exactly the same. They keep saying they are going to get better but keep laying off people, keeping in company bare bones. That is what exactly happened in UA and I am afraid that Nike under EH is doing same thing.
Yes, there are a lot of unproductive staff who is free loading off other people but there are a lot of talented hard working people that thrown out with bath water.
I have never seen mass layoffs that did fire only people that deserved to get fired.
Ask people that were in old Soviet gulag who got there unfairly.

After 3 or 4 years Nike has not improved and not forward moving, just remember this post!!
