I was recently Rif'd and every internal application I submit is getting the thanks but no thanks even for positions I'm a perfect match for or over qualified for. Any clue why this could be??? I dont want to come back here but the job market is rough right now.

Walk by faith and not by sight.
This is a common practice among many corporations. I've been saying this for years that companies post "fake" job postings with no intention of filling/hiring for them.
Posting a position has nothing to do with filling the position. It’s like the decorative bookshelf full of books; how many of them have actually been read? It’s ELV’s way of tossing crumbs of hope to the RIF’d masses. (can you tell how much I love this place?)
Like others are saying it sounds like a hiring freeze but why are they still posting positions? 🤔
I’m so sorry this happened to you, it su-ks! I think there is a hiring freeze that’s why no one is hiring. Best bet is to apply outside of Anthem, good luck !
I was in the 11/15 Rif. I have jobs that I applied for before my last day that I have never heard a thing back on. I think the jobs were put on hold. I had a few internal interviews but never progressed to a second interview. The job market it tough, i've applied for around 75 positions so far and nothing has panned out so far. I have >20 years experience, and an MBA. I'm hoping things start looking up in the next month.
I was part of the 8/8/24 RIF, my last day of work on 9/6. I have 24+ years in ELV. I agree with all the comments from @a4+1jhm6yngx the comment at the very bottom. The redeployment HR contact assigned to me was useless, and she’s not responsive at all. I applied to dozens of internal positions. I emailed some hiring managers whenever I already know them or if I’ve worked in their area before. And for all the internal positions I applied for, I always email the recruiter. I had some 1st interview rounds, but didn’t progress to 2nd interview. I continued to apply for ELV positions until mid-Oct. But I was also applying a LOT to other companies. Fortunately, I got a job offer by mid-Oct from another company. I was so thankful and relieved cause I know the job market is really tough. And I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason. Some bad news from our past, eventually becomes blessings in disguise.
I sincerely wish you all the best. I’ve been reading this forum since early 2024. I’m so thankful for this forum for all the updates and RIF warnings. Even if I wasn’t sure that I’ll be part of the Aug RIF, but thanks to this forum, it helped that I was at least not caught off-guard when I was informed that day.
Keep your heads up high, and keep moving forward! It may take time for things to fall into place, but you’ll get there to your goals at some point, just keep being focused and put your goals into actions every day.
Are you within 50 miles of an office location? otherwise it is an automatic no
Seems like if you don't get another position while your still employed it's not going to happen unless you have strong internal connections. People are saying move on but with all things considered that's easier said then done.
Do not waste your time. If they wanted you, they would have kept you.
Time to move to an offshore location? As that is where the hiring is.....
That would be because all the jobs are in India and the Philippines now and under Carelon global solutions
Same! I'm not getting an interview or any type of movement it's almost an immediate email saying NO.
Same. Every application here has been denied.
We had several internal positions. They were all earmarked for favorites. Feel sorry for those who interviewed and got their hopes up.
As someone who recently filled an opening on my team, I’ve personally never seen so many qualified applicants applying for a single role. It’s an extremely competitive job market right now.
I would recommend doing anything you can to differentiate yourself from other applicants. Finding a connection to the hiring manager who will reach out on your behalf is one way to stand out; recommendations from a trusted peer go a long way. If you can’t do that, reaching out to the hiring manager directly may help as well.
Many hiring managers look beyond the resume for qualities of top performers such as ambitiousness, creativity, resourcefulness, etc. Demonstrating some of these traits ahead of an interview can give you a distinctive edge over others who rely on their resume or CV alone to stand out above others (and it doesn’t hurt to reinforce that in your interview).
It’s easy for me to say, but try to be patient and persistent as you can. Hope this feedback is useful and best of luck in your search!
Are you located in the US? Then answer is NO.
OP you are going to need to look elsewhere.
I think with a lot of these positions posted they already know who they are going to hire before it's posted. Posting the position for a period of time is just a formality, not to actually find candidates.
Same! I actually had a couple of interviews when I was still employed and could actually contact the hiring manager, now it’s an immediate no thanks! It was a lie made up by HR that they would “ help as many associates affected by the RIF get placed in internal positions. They just wanted to keep us compliant so we leave and accept the SUB money and don’t sue. The HR team that was supposed to help with redeployment were next to worthless as well.I now hunt down the hiring managers on LinkedIn and message them directly to get a response. Also it helps put a thorn in their side and if they have a soul maybe even make them feel a little empathy. All in all this company is total garbage with spineless, immature, uneducated leadership that plays favorites, so unless you can kiss good a-s you’re probably SOL on this one. Onward to bigger and better !
