Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Are you preparing for involuntary layoffs?

They're 100% happening. Don't waste this time you have before they start and make sure to get your ducks in a row.

yes, I am preparing for both scenarios: layoff or retained.

layoff: family finances have been reviewed to determine what discretionary spending to cut. resume has already been ready to go. the plan is to secure employment as soon as possible (even if it's a pay cut) to keep us afloat, while still seeking a comparable or better role/pay elsewhere.

retained: while the security of a paycheck is nice, personally I feel like this may or may not be good. the reduction in roles also reduces growth opportunities, I see careers being stunted, at least for the next 12-18 months. I also see individual contributors having an increase in workload without the job title or pay to reflect that.

both scenarios are stressing me out. my mental health is already in the trash.

there's this small voice of wishful thinking that goes, "oh, well what if this director quits, could I get promoted?" and the answer is no, because if you are retained, you are being retained for your current position.

I applied for the VSP. Made sense for me. But you are definitely right. It’s jump or be pushed off time.
