Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

CPI Merch- Am I Sc--wed?

Morale is at an all time low. MM is incompetent and still thinks he’s an architect even though there’s nothing to build. The biz will not engage with us. It seems like we are being setup for a major cut. Is it any better on other teams in this group? Did I draw the short straw in joining this team?

Don't feel too bad about MP. He dumped $54,327,400 worth of stock grants last year before the stock cratered. Why would he come back when he can make that kind of coin to not work?

@a3, yes, MP was a good CEO. A thoughtful person who deeply understood the company. But he had to be a sacrificial lamb in the “Me Too!” era, where unserious people took themselves too seriously and forced him out.

That led directly to JD and the subsequent disaster of his reign. In this way Nike’s current problems are at least partially the blame of political correctness run amok.

Some of you reading this will think “This is just some right wing person so I can discount their criticism.” But that’s the funny thing. If anything my politics lean somewhat left of center. It’s just that even I can see and acknowledge when going overboard comes back to bite you in the rear.

I hope the people responsible for MP’s departure are happy with themselves. Actually, more than anything I hope those people are at the top of the chopping block list.

I can tell you right now, if your work isn’t attached to wholesale sales your team is going to get hit hard … and not just wholesale sales, something that is going to add value and increase revenue next quarter… they don’t give a sh-t about 1-3 year plans.

Before our group was laid off last June, we were squeezed to the edge of the herd. Foljs disliked in other groups were randomly added to ours. VPs paid no attention to us. We kept bring told to "hold off" on bigger things.

The writing was on the wall.

DAI must vary from team to team. In our group I know we have users & there is talk of our stuff plugging into AI next FY... not that I trust AI. Also not many engi's. Big problem is there has been jack to do in Q4.

I am also in merch and it’s not any better on the other teams. I am vry stressed as I joined this team only 4 months ago and there’s already talk of cutting. We have around 15 engineers and there’s nothing to do.

nope, it's like that on every team, at least in GT, will to bet its the same culture outside of GT as well

it's fascinating how that is, how it's the same in every time

always from the top, leadership, EH hasn't paid enough attention to it, doesn't care to, or doesn't know how.

he's in over his head, needs to step down to a vp role and bring in 'a fixer' a real ceo that knows how to get things done

actually bring back MP, he was nike's best ceo after PK, if he has the strength, he could bring it back
