Anyone have a leader who requires cameras to be on in every meeting? How is this even enforceable?

If you are working remote and hate turning your camera on, then get a different job. Go start day care company, I heard they are profitable in mn. Or just maybe stop being a cry baby and grow up, turn you camera on and stop being a woke frog that identifies as fish!
@j0 you are just mad you can’t control people. Sorry that you can’t control people like me from responding when I’m on pto, or taking my time to reply back. I have work boundaries and there is literally NOTHING you can do about it. I hope it eats away at your old boomer brain at night.
Bunch of cry babies on this thread. Probably same people with teams messages like “No Hellos”, or get upset if someone calls without first sending a message asking if ok first. Feel old school, but you are the people that need RTO and/or need to leave.
@OP
It's not really enforceable from an HR perspective. It's more a psycho mgr thing
@OP
Do what I did. Turn it on and hang a thin tissue over it or smudge it with a little Vas---ne. When people tell you something is wrong keep turning it on and off ... sc--w with them and waste the meeting time. Tell them everything looks good on your end. Geeze I dunno : shrug.
It’s either mandatory or strongly suggested in most of our meetings. It su-ks!
More than half of my team is in India, with internet connections that are barely capable of supporting the audio portion of a call. There's no way cameras could be required. They literally don't have the bandwidth to handle it.
@a3 I wouldn’t even have to make sure I did this. This is my usual. Lol
@dr those are so creepy and distracting IMO
Use the avatar feature. At least it's not your actual face then but still talks and moves as you do.
@a4 The thing is, these camera-on psychos don't really contribute anything. So they don't see or feel how distracting it is. 95% of their job is sitting around delegating, talking, or ja--ing off. The other 5% is getting up to go grab a tissue.
A lot of phone and service center jobs here your camera has to be on all day long. So yeah it could be a whole lot worse and TBH probably will trend that way.
AI will fix all folks that are not camera ready. I always turn my camera on and when others off. Mine as well
It is very distracting to have your camera on during a working meeting. If you’re watching people, it can be harder to take notes or update what you are working on if you are screen sharing. I think cameras are helpful for 1:1s and some larger group meetings, but they should be a personal preference, as they can be a significant distraction for some people while feeling more personable for others. A good leader allows employees to meet their comfort level for productivity.
No, but I’d make sure I looked nasty. 3 days of beard growth and stained PJ’s!
