Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dear Verizon

Dear verizon,
I'm not taking my severance. I'm going to take a different job. I'm about to coast. I'm going to use you, I'm going to get my degree in engineering using your tuition assistance. I'm going to no longer be a top performer. I'm going to do just enough to keep using you. I don't trust you anymore. I'm going to tell people not to get verizon, I'm going to go out of my way to not have people switch. You sc--wed over so many people and you are taking advantage of people's emotions during the holidays. You're about to pay for me to leave and I'm no longer going to be your top performer. Fu-k you.

Verizon paid for my degree in the 2010s and then I took the VSP in 2018. Best decision I’ve made. Get your education! It can’t be taken away from you

Those early in a career, and have ambitions to move on to anything they are currently doing, and the company has a tuition program, you should take it. Its hard to work and goto school at the same time (I did...no tuition program), but its a way to boost a career or change a career. Much like matching funds in the 401(K), take advantage of it if you can.

Me? I'm 4 years away from retirement. I max my Roth 401(k) every year. I have planned my money, live under my means, but its easier once the kids are gone and you have no debt. Its not easy. Its the opposite of that, but your future self will thank you.

I bet they hit the tuition program. They tried to do it a few years ago. More cost saving is on the horizon.

Verizon paid for my degree.

Honestly, you have about half of the equation right. You should get every degree or certification or any other thing you can do under Verizon to increase your skills. The other half will get you RIF'd before you finish any of that.

Take a breath, understand the current environment, and then do your job and use every resource to better yourself. So much of this is outside our control, but improving is 100% in your control.

@aj President's Cabinet and Winners Circle are primarily for sales positions, but area support staff can also be nominated. If you're working from the ivory tower in NJ you wouldn't be invited since you're not in those positions. No need to diminish the sales division of the company.

@a3 dude, you don't know me and you don't know my situation. I am not in my hometown. I got a promotion to a store that got hit with an indirect transition. I already have a new path so it obviously isn't me. You on the other hand sound like an Indian troll that makes the company worse.

@a1 you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. I have been to Winner's Circle the past two years. I was caught up in an area that was rural. You have no idea what happened. Fu-k you. You are a part of the problem.
