Does someone know how the selection was made?
Who is making call and how much our direct management influenced the process?

Definitely not older, more expensive people - no, no, definitely not
Synopsys just happened to have several thousand 'low performers' sitting around who needed to be culled
@a4 just curious - which product is this?
@a3 From Ansys side, one of our products has been cut and all developers associated that product has been let go. They are very talented colleagues and could have been assigned to other positions. But unfortunately, I don't see they have been given that chance. Their last day is tomorrow. I feel very sad to see them go and the empty chairs in the office.
For us it was portfolio. Our entire team was gutted irrespective of performance.
I also feel a level of favoritism is also in the play. How else would you explain some exceptions when most of the team is out.
@OP I know a couple of months ago managers were asked to provide names of low performers, or those they would otherwise choose to layoff. So I’m sure they took those names into consideration. Other than low performance, I heard Synopsys was choosing based on projects (for example, if there was an entire team they didn’t think fit, or an entire product, etc.) and duplicate positions due to acquisition.
