Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

John, Please End RTO Before It’s Too Late

John, we’re begging you, end this RTO madness. It’s crushing the very people who keep this company running. The commutes are ki-ling us, the hubs are overcrowded, and nothing has improved. We’re still sitting on Teams calls all day, only now we’re doing it from cubicles instead of home offices.

Morale has never been lower. Great employees are leaving in waves, the kind of people we can’t afford to lose. Customers aren’t happier, productivity isn’t higher, and the only “results” this RTO has delivered are frustration, attrition, and resentment.

We proved remote and hybrid worked. For years we supported customers, hit goals, and kept this company afloat from our homes. The work was getting done, and done well. So why are we being punished now? Why force a failed system on people when a better one already exists?

Please, stop doubling down. End RTO and give employees their dignity back. Let people work where they’re most effective, not where a turnstile says they belong. If you truly care about the future of AT&T, listen to your workforce before there’s no one left to listen.

The more you beg, the more he becomes happy. There is only 1 language Baldy understands, money. Stop giving this company money. Then the begging will reverse. Ive never seen such an arrogant overpaid fiber salesman. You're selling something to people, employees are people, least you can do is be nice, even you cant do that. He deserves no money from employees and from everyone. Cut your services and tell everyone.

You have extensively researched the voting, donation, and volunteering records of posters here? I'm certain you aren't blowing nonsense out of your poopchute on this. Please show your work.

Yeah. I guess they failed to account for the bootlick brigade. Easy mistake since y'all are so insignificant.

Yeah. Damn those employees who just wandered in one day, totally on their own, and began working.

How naive are you? Stankey has said out loud that we have too many employees and he wants to lower the employee count to increase the revenue per employee ratio. RTO is a quick easy way to get people to quit without having to fire them or pay them severance.

I speak for EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE when I say we HATE RTO. The culture will not improve until 5x RTO efforts regress. It is what it is… You really think people are happy and motivated in this model when it’s so obvious the same work can be done from home? Just look what it’s done to the culture in just the last 9 months. Even the people who troll this site aren’t actually happy…

Destroying a once great American company from the inside out.

Another example of elementary school thinking. "But mom, all the other kids did it too!"

It failed then, all those years ago, and it will fail again for those unable to advance past this mindset.

RTO isn’t a John Stankey program. It is an industry standard. Why wouldn’t AT&T follow it?

Stankey only has 40K more employees to get rid of before he hits his target. Knowing that you are miserable makes him happy.

Executive concern for (company name) extends no further than next quarter’s bonuses and their Parachute. The plebs underneath and our opinions matter less to them than the schedule of the Golf Channel, and they only ever pretend to ask for it when they need a PR hit.

Stop telling lies to promote your agenda. This didn’t happen.

I was forced to Alpharetta and when I called their bluff and moved, they laid me off. It's all a game for them. That is the culture they built. This company su-ks.

Straight out of the elementary school playbook. "Since some of you were naughty boys and girls, recess is canceled for the whole class." Not sure about you, but I left that behind long ago.

How about, I dunno, performance managing those who needed it and leaving everyone else alone?

I was forced to move to a hub city years ago. Now I have to commute to the office. I don’t love it but I consider it a requirement as part of my employment. I say this because we all have to make choices regarding employment. RTO is required because too many people took advantage of the wfh option. Maybe not you personally, but many did, and therefore, everyone is required to be in the office.
I’d personally love to wfh and in a much cheaper geographic location. But I made the decision to stay with ATT and deal with the requirements of the job.
We all have to make the choice that’s best for us and our families. Make it and move on. Life’s too short to constantly complain about the situation we are currently dealt.
