For me, it was either that or considering medication - which is still not off the table. Needless to say, nearly 95 percent of my stress and anxiety stem from work.

Get out and hunt or fish and unlive something. Get back to the land and feel dirt under your nails. That .001 neanderthal in you want to live again!!!
BetterUp is a very good resource. My coach helped me realize Chevron is not the right place for me. She had been through a similar situation, so it was very reassuring.
If you drink alcohol maybe consider quitting. Alcohol increases depression in people who are already depressed.
I highly suggest being physically active, go for a walk, go to the gym, or simply change scenery (not the house or office). and try ashwaganhda gummies
I have been suffering from anxiety and depression since 15 years. Ironically, it started after I joined Chevron although the company hasn't really contributed to it, it just the nature of my mind, taking offense to everything and making a mountain of a mole hill for every little thing. Chevron has been a really good company, great coworkers, really thankful for the job.
Know that you are not alone in the struggle. I've experienced tremendous challenge in the last year, primarily induced by work and what has become a hostile environment. It has proliferated throughout my life causing sleepless nights, high stress and anxiety, dread about work and so on. I'm not the biggest believer in therapy, but given the alternative, if you get to that point, absolutely reach out to a therapist. They can't solve all of your problems but I found even talking it through helpful. And I'm actually optimistic with this layoff that it may be an opportunity to shift gears and embrace a new challenge. Of course my preference is to stay for a new opportunity here but if I can't, sure it will su-k but the sun will rise again and better days will be ahead. Hang in there.
I know this is a serious topic but don't feel like you are all alone and this is only you suffering from anxiety and depression about getting laid off or finding another job. This is everyone and we are all in this together folks! And anxiety and some depression about job insecurity is normal and don't make it worse for yourself by thinking you have some unique problem that the rest of us don't have to deal with all day, everyday 24-7-365.
Not trying to be trite but please keep things in perspective. This is a job - one of many- for a company that is one of many. It feels life altering until you are faced with losing a loved one, facing terminal illness.
Added stress, absolutely, but please keep perspective. You’ll get through it and will be better in the long run with the right mindset. In a few years you’ll be able to look back and be proud of how you handled it. Therapy could absolutely help so get the assistance you need. Good luck and take care of yourself.
I’ve been an anti anxiety med for the past couple years to deal with the work environment.

Where can I get some
Do you know how expensive therapy is? It’s crazy.
Tough times require tough people. I find it exciting but I've also positioned myself to face these times and haven't blown all my financials. Would it be nicer if this wasn't happening sure but this is how character is built. I plan on securing my spot by any means and if it doesn't happen taking the severance and starting my own business if need be.
SSRIs baby!!!!
I have not been sleeping well. I get up every few hours and can't fall into a deep sleep.
Sadly once the layoffs are over the feeling of uncertainty will remain. You don’t go through this without scars and a constant fear of wondering when the next shoe will drop
I’m not sure what a therapist would say to help me deal with the uncertainty and stress, so no. Seems all they do is validate your feelings, and I don’t need pointless affirmations from a third party with no real understanding of my life.
Not in the last year, but it helped me tremendously over my life.
If your job is truly the only thing giving you this much stress, I’d sure consider an alternative.
Please Please…take care of yourselves!
A coworker told me they were taking special K! Exxon had had several su----es during their recent offshoring of jobs drives
This is only the beginning. The survivors will have to deal with HESS layoffs in 2026 and ENGINE layoffs in 2026-2029.
