There’s been talks for years about selling the Oronite business, especially when business is in the toilet. Not to say it’s not on the table, but there has been no credible discussion around it. Total Downstream earnings in Q1-2024 was $783 million compared to Q1-2025 at $325 million and there was a loss in Q4-2024 (due to US Downstream). Profits increase for Downstream when oil prices are low, so we should start to see a turnaround in that business. I do not see Chevron selling Oronite anytime soon!

Oronite is a is a vaporous material originating from MW's home town of Oro that emits a unique radiation that can weaken reasoning.

Chevron should sell/spin-off assets based on ROCE of each and every business units, just like any other companies. Oronite's ROCE is ~2-3X of Chevron's average. I don't Chevon is going to cut the flowers and keep the weeds.

@aa, You haven't heard anything because there is nothing to hear. This is not a place to find real information. This is a place of childish gossip trolled by numbnuts with nothing but BS.

Promote has been offered for sale a few times in its history. Valued asset but might be more valued by a purchasing company

Why sell the only downstream asset that exceeded expectations? If anything get them to lead the transformation of the rest of downstream.

Dumping it off for when Exxon buys us, and the Mobil Lubricants brand is much stronger.

Selling it to the highest bidder to optimize the portfolio of assets. Employees will move to the new company
