CDW let go of roughly 750 employees, with zero prior notice. I know that many are not getting 60 days of pay.
Is this a violation of the WARN Act? Or is there some loophole related to remote work and multiple offices that CDW is able to use as a defense?
Can someone refer to a proper labor attorney please ? i have been included in the recent RIF layoff, and I'm a immigrant who cannot switch jobs, other than move my entire family, and my severance is so low that i cannot manage all this together, can someone help direct me to a labor attorney who can take this case free and take 5-10% after winning.. ?
Also, wouldn't taking the attorney route jeopardize your severance pay and ban you from the company further ? Just asking

Are there any little hints you could give as to the firm in extremely vague and cryptic ways that perhaps a genius could follow the direction? Of course I'M clearly NOT a genius - I stayed at this horrible company for far too long because I thought I was protecting my family with a steady paycheck. Now we've paid the price, effective immediately!
@a2 to be fair, it's the law and not scammy tactics. You have to report the physical location of employees and many do wfh from multiple states.
@fm Just inked one. The firm is taking this case for 250 down and 5 percent of anything we win. They said they settled a much higher offer for three of the posters who they represented during the last layoffs.
@b0 My attorney is talking my case for free and 10 percent of anything we win above and beyond their offer.
@b0 Pay it! I did during the last layoffs and they settled for more than I asked for and all legal fees. I am so glad I did. It protected my family.
@av Local market doesn’t seem to have free options. I’ve been quoted $295 to $750 for a severance review by reputable firms.
I’m in a place to pay either price if it’s worth it. The $750 does seem like they provide substantially more than the $295 firm.
Every situation is unique. As a labor attorney, I will not be an ambulance chaser and recommend my services but I helped my brother with his case and he settled for a great deal more. There may be other factors like age, race, religion, s-xual orientation, who was let go versus who wasn't and other factors. Most labor attorney's will take your case for free and solely ask for a percentage of the additional monies they offer. Some may ask for a fee in advance but you will get that back in the settlement. Call and attorney now. It will be the best decision you ever made.
Labor laws are written like we’re all working at a single factory. They can get around WARN because not everyone reported into the same location. Our laws are totally outdated and there’s no protection, especially for remote workers.
