Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Layoff talk has changed the whole workplace

I have been through several restructurings before in other companies and here, but this latest situation feels different. Management keeps mentioning budget pressure and possible cuts during meetings, even when the topic has nothing to do with staffing. It has now started to feel less like planning and more like a way to keep people from questioning decisions and keeping us in our lane.

@f3 we have been traveling around the globe to see our partners for years. This happens multiple times a year.

While all of this is going on, it’s worth keeping in mind that each trip by a member of leadership to the India office can cost approximately $12,000–$15,000 per person. When multiple leaders travel, those expenses add up quickly.

Many of these trips include first class airfare and accommodations, and in some cases travelers extend their stay by a week or more before returning home, with the return flight still covered by the company. Taken together, these costs can represent a significant expenditure and have a meaningful impact on the overall budget.

The strategy of shifting jobs to India is failing. The results are coming in slowly, but the warning signs have been there for a long time.

The real issue is that leadership made the decision, and now few, if any, of them want to admit they overplayed their hand. Doing so would likely put them next in line to be shown the door. Instead, they’re kicking the can down the road, buying themselves time while they look for their next opportunity elsewhere.

@a2 Your manager is a phony leader. I'm in Digital and the people remaining are phony.

It has changed, and it’s getting worse as time goes on. I’ve watched this forum lose much more activity since 2025 and even more so in the last 6 months. My coworkers are stressed, leadership is stressed, multiple teams are stressed, and people are actively trying to move on from this company. We lost a lot of knowledge, and the people who are still here are either losing motivation or waiting to be laid off. Not much option to fight back against or advocate for better when your job is threatened for speaking up.

For sure. My team chat was disbanded after the first rounds of layoffs. I knew it was a way for management to keep us from not getting on the same page. I think any time you questions anything you’re on some unofficial list to get pushed out. I’m getting pip threats left and right and so is my team. I’ve felt the decline since one of the first pip threats I got before my bday last year. Lmao lowkey want to see if my supervisor will pull me into another one on one before y bday this year and give me another pip threat.
