Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

All of the old-timers on my team are gone

Four people, all in their 50s and above. I'll be honest, I have no idea how we're supposed to continue without them, especially since we were stretched thin as it is.

Similar situation. I got laid off April 2024 35 years as a senior marketing manager. I was making 170k base plus a 20% bonus. Great money. Quite frankly it's more than executives. Make it other companies. I was banking 15% of my money in the 401k for 35 years. I got laid off a month after my mortgage was paid off. Golf is great

I'm 84, had 67 years with NY bell, nynex, bell Atlantic and was just cut because I can't climb onto rooftops anymore without falling off

I am 38 years old. 16 years with Verizon. I was laid off Nov 2025. Verizon posted my position in my store at a lower salary after I was notified (Nov 2025) before my last day of work (Feb 2026).

Seems like not long before the big layoff in Nov 2025 a few new hires were brought in (GNT), lower on the totem pole. They were let go, along with a bunch of the older folks. Seems like a way to pad the numbers so firing the older workers gets hidden by a mix of younger folks mixed in. Anyone else see anything like this?

I am 59 and got the call last November. I am now retired and played 5 rounds of golf last week and loving it. If you are fortunate to not worry about and have been fiscally smart over the years, it's amazing the level of stress that leaves when you leave for good.

@a2 100% right. Hatchet man Dan is trying to inflate stock prices any way he can so he can get his bonus then exit.

@a4 I have never really commented but to say this baffles me. Like people are losing work and you want the “blessing”. You’re able to resign in about you. Be aware that people are going through things and change your mindset.

Dan calling out AI is all about giving Vz a cover eliminating jobs to reduce payroll expenses. There is no
Proven business model showing how eliminating experience in the 13,000+ as an enhancement. Dan is interim CEO for two reasons. 1. Hans& Leadership was a DEI F-up 2. Revenues can't raise stock price so fastest way to 0 is reduce headcount without merit.
