Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

I refuse to believe that layoffs are happening today.

After all in the past few weeks there’s been rebuttal after rebuttal of naysayers heckling the h*ll out of anyone who said that it’d not take place. It’s all a figment of your imagination.

My manager, VP, Telecommuter, IT/Systems guy caught the first falling kn--e for our team yesterday at noon. Now there are 4 with no guidance or direction, hovering, waiting to see what comes next.

@dq It's true that mostly Citizens are impacted. Not just in Citi, but everywhere.
It's a maintenance issue. No severance, no insurance and no other obligations if you hire a consultant. Banks want to make money. They are not here for charity. If you are in tech, the best thing to do is find an Indian manager of your caste. He/she can save you during these hard times. IT industry is completely sold out to consulting companies and top caste racists.

@av C12, C13 and C14... all are impacted.
Mostly Citizens. Immigrants and consultants seem to be fine.

@aj you are malignantly, stone cold stupid. The referenced 20K job cuts were announced 2.5 years ago. To date 10-11K in HC reduction, leaving maybe 8K to go. It’s plausible they reach that # this year but the announce severance reserves do not support it and neither does the track record to date.

@a7 you are delusional at best. This even came out in an article for business insider “ Citi will cut more jobs this year as part of its plan to reduce its workforce by 10%, or 20,000 employees.

In a statement on January 13, the bank said that it will continue to reduce head count in 2026.”

You are ignorant!

@OP the heckling is for clowns like you who floated ludicrous #’s like 5, 10 and 15%. You earned tour Bozo rep.

It’s true and no surprise - no consideration of what expertise they got rid of, but I’m pretty sure I’m better off than the poor souls that will have to pick up the pieces and deliver now.
