Remember this feeling of being Discarded, remember the betrayal that had NOTHING to do with your performance or metrics. Remember how easily they threw you to the trash can once it became expedient— remember it before you sacrifice yourself again climbing the corporate ladder and neglect your family, health and pursuing your own dreams for the sake of giving more to the Company. In the end they don’t give a DAMMMN about you, it’s all about the shareholders, Execs and appeasing Wall Street. The rest of us are easily discarded like used toilet paper once they have finished wiping their ŠŠŠ with you.

@OP Not sure why this is getting downvoted. It's 100% correct. I can honestly say I never let VZ dictate my life. I almost thought this is what caused me to be RIFed, but after seeing some of the other people included I know I made the right choice. Some of the most loyal "VTeamers" I know were cut and it boggled my mind!
@a2 YUPPPP welcome to why businesses are started - to make a profit. Starting TODAY, start one of your own, or start looking if you got the ax like me. If you own securities of any kind, be they inside or outside a 401k or other retirement plan, you're hoping for EXACTLY the same thing: an increase in shareholder value, which means the debt, equity or other assets you're holding rise in value, which means your retirement account balance(s) rise in value, which means bigger numbers. It's just business.

@OP+1kb415pwe & All. The thread poster's comments ring true for me. I don't understand why others are making fun or belittling what the string starter is saying. Could it be that the Vsupport (Managers or HR or publicity have swooped in?). Perhaps.
I get every piece of what is being said. Myself last. Verizon first to keep job and provide for family. Support the team and challenges, chip in, do what is needed ... then in an instant you are thrown away. My AD said they didn't know until Wed 11/19 PM who was impacted and there was no discussion. Hard to believe. But whatever.
