Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Layoff Americans and keep H1B

What do y’all think of ConocoPhillips laying off hardworking Americans as part of the reorg but retaining H1B employees and even filing for permanent residency.
What does that say about how they think of us?

This won’t stop. It happened in 2015-2016 as well, and probably long before.

That is just bad policy and is morally wrong. H1Bs in this environment should never be favored over American employees. Everyone should boycott Conoco gas stations and force them out of business. Sell their stock too and drag the stock price down.

My tip for all of you have survived the first round, start looking for another role... it's gonna take 3-5 months to realistically find a job so start looking.

@a2 That was a brutal comment in a global town hall when the problem was 100% on Microsoft.

Our group kept the H1B’s and fired two American engineers…

H1B no longer needed. More and more engineering, finance as well as IT being offshored to India.

I saw it coming when Ryan asked “How many IT people does it take to change a light bulb?”. I knew then he had a very low opinion of our corporate IT colleagues. And I’m sure our illustrious CIO didn’t do anything to explain it.

I guess a follow question that I have for Ryan is “How may CEOs does it take to keep this ship afloat?”
