Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Percentage

Verizon has a total of 100,000 US employees. Not all of the 100,000 are managers. So 15,000 manager jobs cut is more than 15%

15% of total workforce is abotu 15,000. However Only non union is affected by cuts - so say 35k or so is union leaving 65k nonunion. So 15k out of of 65k i sreally 23% of non union staff being cut startign Thursday.
Yeah some union folks took the targeted package but not in any kind of numbers near big enough to make a difference to the serious blow to the non union number

How many union employees are there? 5k, 10k. How does the voluntary package offered to union mid-Atlantic union employees play into this?

Management employees are those not in the Union…thought everyone knew that

@a2 I should have said not all of the 100,000 are non-union members

"Management" is a term synonymous with "non-union" in this case. These cuts are not exclusive to manager positions only. Its exclusive to non union positions

Incredibly astute observation. That is true, and lines up with some reports of teams losing 50% of headcount, vs. thinking it will be an even 15% across all teams.
