Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I’m running on fumes

I’ve got too many bills, too many people counting on me, and zero energy left to care about work. Some days I’m scared I’ll snap at the wrong person and regret it. I used to like what I did, now I’m just trying not to lose it.

@15z I only posted once. Not sure why this person is considered more deep/valuable either.

@a2 No sh…. This person obviously has more difficulties than you. From both of your postings, he’s obviously a lot more valuable and deep of a person than you.

Take a break. Sometimes slowing down speeds you up. Problem is usually not the job...it is usually something at home (college bills, kids, wife, dog, parents health, bills, too much stuff going on like vacations and personal travel.) Try doing NOTHING on a weekend. AND RECHARGE and get 8 hours of sleep for 4 days in a row.

It seems like a toxic culture!!! Instead of self destruction how about realizing that this game is unsustainable and feeds off people will to succeed. When you don’t…care sh-t happens…let sh-t happen

This movie quote seems to apply biggly

“You get up two and a half million dollars, any a--hole in the world knows what to do. You get a house with a 25-year roof, an indestructible J-p economy shitbox, you put the rest into the system at 3 to 5 percent to pay your taxes, and that’s your base, get me? That’s your fortress of fu--ing solitude. That’s your base. That’s your fortress. You live in that fortress. You don’t go outside that fortress. You don’t gamble. You don’t drink. You don’t do dr-gs. You don’t chase women. You don’t do anything that’s gonna cost you money. You live in that fortress. That’s your base. That’s your fortress of fu--ing solitude. And then, when you get to five million, you get to a point of fu-k you.”

Everyone’s goal should be to get to the point of “fu-k you”. Never do what you don’t want to.

I just need a few more years to reach a comfortable sum of money. I can leave now but it would be harder. I probably would have to work for a few years. They are trying like he-l to get me out. If I get one more year I will be close enough. I have no outstanding bills I owe.

Let's hope for a good severance package buyout or early retirement option for those wanting / needing to go.

Sorry to hear you’re going through that. Feel like it makes a big difference in terms of stress depending on whether or not you have financial security. Unsure if your bills were self-inflicted by lifestyle choice or if there was some sort of life event that occurred that put you in this position.

I’ve been hoping for years I’d be PIP’d and get paid out 3 months. Having years and years of savings/investments with low monthly expenses takes a lot of pressure off.
