Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Joining EJ in Research Department.

I am joining EJ in couple of weeks and really worried about layoffs. I am leaving my current job to join EJ. There is pay bump in this job at EJ but I am afraid that the work load is too much and not sure how much is the bonus. They said the bonus for senior director is anywhere from 35-60% and I will be at level 15 and the next level is senior partner. How are the bonuses in the research department and do they pay good bonuses.?

@cn Correct, they’re part of the supplemental bonus pool.

EJ leadership reads this website and your position is easily identifiable.

@ap Research gets a separate bonus pool that is much higher than everyone else's.

For years my bonus has consistently been 25% lower than what they told me the average was as part of my offer.

@ae this is correct. Promotions are not structured so people remain at level most of the time. You can remain at level 15 forever. They lied to you about bonus. No where near 60%.

The high end of that bonus range is blatantly inaccurate, sorry for whoever got your hopes up on that.

The culture for EJ has been completely tanked, so I would view this as likely a stepping stone in your career and get what you can out of it. I hope the best for you.

@OP You are a stopgap. You will be gone before Cascade 3 of ER is over. Take the money while you can, but continue to look. 2027 will be here soon.

They lied to you about the bonus, that’s not accurate. It’s completely variable and it’s definitely nowhere near 60%, closer to 25% as a senior director.
There is no next level up. They hire experienced senior directors to pigeon hole you. Good Luck

@a2 , good response. I'm sure this new hire is replacing a knowledgeable associate who was either VSPd or ISPd.

Not to smart to post so much before he/she has started.

My two cents are that you should delete this post if you wish to remain anonymous. Too much identifying information provided.
