As I sit here my heart hurts and I wanna vomit. With 20 years even with the bad there has been so much good. Coworkers have become family. This reorg feels different. I just want to wish everyone the best in what happens or choice you make. I am thankful for everything I have learned and memories we’ve made. Thank you!

Chevron is winning the race to the bottom. They’re going to third-world our workforce to deliver first quartile results. Good luck with that.
last night during the IT townhall they referred to us as "family". yeah right, you dont do this to family.

since you left Chevron 10 years ago, this layoff will be terminating US employees and replacing them with workers in low cost countries. The number of US employees impacted this time around will be in the >40% of US workers. This layoff is not like reductions in previous years. I have made it through 4 layoffs win my time at Chevron but this time I am expected to teach my job to another person with less experience and English is not their first language. I learned my job through university, job training and the school of hard knocks, Chevron is executing this reduction in workforce to improve profits not to provide improved service.
OP, I empathize with you. Chevron fosters a great life/work balance and the environment for many of or co-workers to become fast friends. I worked for Chevron from 1987 to 2015. Lots of good memories I cherish. I was also very fortunate to have survived 4 massive corporate wide layoffs in my career. Sometimes it’s what you know and contribute to the organization, other times it’s just being in the right place at the right time that throws you a lifeline. However, it’s the nature of the beast. This industry is all about bo-m and bust. Some decisions of who stays and who goes during times of layoffs is often filled with emotion. The timing is on always on our side. All everyone should do now is the best work they can, but mentally prepare for the tomorrow as if it will be their last. Keep your worries to yourself, as displays of non-confidence and doom surely could put a target on your back. After all, someone above your pay grade will be making a decision about your future. Start brushing up your CV in your spare time and don’t look unproductive on the job. Good luck.
with all the Town Halls scheduled, the employees will be so busy just watching the meetings and listening to how "we (they) are so proud of you (us)".
